  4. Dad owned a mk2 8v gti which was ace which got swapped for a mk3 vr6 for my mum and a Corrado VR6 for me (I was 22!). Lots of sports cars in the mean time but wanted a reliable powerful motorway mile muncher for the commute that wasn't too much money. Up came a 97 VR6 for £2k with FVWSH and the rest is obvious

  7. Really can't see how you can do it with the head on. I'd suggest to do it properly as the ring are vital to get the most power from your engine so you want it done right imho

  9. Yeah, I had a look and i've seen it somewhere that it's the same as the audi article...Just can't remember where I've seen it lol. It can't be that bad. disconnect the battery, have a brew, undo two screws to release the airbag then maybe remove the wheel but it can't be that hard...

  12. Yeah, you can grease it, but it's better to replace it - an easy job either way. I got a bearing from ebay for a couple of quid

  14. Nope, gonna live with it then buy a spare box and recon it myself and then get a garage to swap em with the clutch at the same time

  17. yes, but you need to remove the leads to get at the plugs
  18. www.fancyplates.com has always been good to get tehm from, but ebay has proved a good supplier recently... cheaper and just as good
