    thankyou ill give the carb cleaner a go and then ask my mate to inspect the throttle position sensor and see waht he can do!! im not a mechanic by any means lol so was just wondering is the throttle sensor easy to locate?

    im really struggling to find out what is wrong with my car. i have a mk2 seat ibiza with a golf vr6 lump in it bored out to a 2.9! the problem i am having is that when i am going either slowish in 1st or 2nd or at a constant speed between 2k and 3k revs in other gears the car seems to lose power but then kicks back in. i can only really describe it as a kind of hiccup!! its as if the fuel is cut off or something and it just stops for a second and then bang it goes again. this can happen with a full tank of fuel, on a staight or around a roundabout and seems to be really random when it happens.

    hmmm well this is gonna sound strange lol. i was on my way to meet my mate with his vr and was passing a petty station and i had just below quarter of a tank left so thought id fill her up. having filled her up it drove fine!!!! therefore i couldnt change any bits as it was driving fine and i wouldnt be able to tell!! all the way from york to billing it was fine and then going round the 2nd to last roundabout it hesertaded again!! after this it got progressivly worse till i filled up!! so i thinking it has got to be something with fuel but its not as if im letting it run out of petrol, it se

    oh no ur kidding!!!! my leads are brand new magnecor ones and cost £100 on the plus side i can try that easily by swaping my leads from my mates vr

    will try all these tomorrow when i see my mate who is a mechanic!! after changing fuel pump etc he ran out of ideas so ill let him know these ones!! thanks liam

    i posted on here a while ago saying that my car was doing something strange!! basically it drives ok but then kinda hiccups!! it losses power(not as in battery power) and then it just comes back in with a thump! (kinda kangarooing if you go slowly) it only used to do this the odd time when flooring it but now its doing it all the time!! i have changed the fuel pump for a vr6 one, i have changed the spark plugs, fuel filter and cleaned the dizzy cap!! all of which havent worked ps my car is a seat ibiza mk2 and i have done the conversion myself, engine is a golf 2.8 bored out to a 2.9 with ga

    yeh as above. alot of my mates have 2ltre 16v vee dubs or vauxhall motors and have fitted bike carbs to them and they go really well. there is also a place near me that does it and its half the price of a shrick manifold.

    is it possible to fit bike carbs to a vr6? if so has anybody fitted or know of anyone who has fitted them??

    just got my ibizavr6 on the road!! all going ok apart from when traveling at a constant speed it sometimes losses power for a second or two and then carries on. ive been describing it as a burp lol. has anyone any ideas?? so far i can only think fuel pump or air mass meter also when starting the car it turns over for nearly 10seconds before firring up. i still have the standard 1.4 ibiza fuel pump on will this be why?? the only other problem is when at high revs the oil light comes on and the dash beeps. i have found that one of the wires has come out of the top of the connector on the oil fi

    yep deffenetly worth the effort expence and every thing. ive been for a drive tonight and it pulls like fuck!! wud be interesting to know how it rates to a standard vr6. my engine was one from tsr with 2.9 bottom end and gas flowed head etc. bought it in a golf that had been sat for a while for £1k absolute bargin!! after selling other parts the golf only stands me at £600.

    does anybody no what gearbox's will fit a mk2 golf 1.6 8v driver. would prefer a 5 speed!!! mine abit worse for wear and a 5 speed would drastically improve the fuel comsumtion!! will my 1.4 mk2 ibiza box fit?? this car is just my runabout so iam just looking for to fix it foa as little ££ as poss really

    have you solved this?? would i be right in saying some cars have an automatic cut off to the fuel pump in an event of a crash and sometimes lowing a car can make the ride hard enough to activate this??

    not that one but thats exactly what i did to that one lol its like said before its ment to go to the brake servo!! thanks for your replys mot on fri so ill post up pics if/when it passes and goes thru
