    Well I hope this is not too embaressing for me AHEM ( Centre of wheel to Wheel Arch on both front and rear Wheels is 35cm each, this was measured on level ground %-6 I think I may be investing in a lowering kit anytime soon

    I thought about putting them on mine, the replica (cheaper) ones are 8x18" and foul the arches, every dealer I phoned told me that. I was told that 7.5x18" will fit the mk3 but I am now being educated that even these are too big. The RS4 rims are far better looking imo

    Sadly I must put my hand up to that mate, as I have admitted to having standard ride height in my post about 18" alloys and being a newbie to the VR6 world. If you can tell me (In laymens terms please) how to measure it, I will gladly supply my vehicles current ride height. I must lower mine soon, far too many near misses with 747's !amazed

    WoW what a nice motor mate, and thanks for the great advice I shall be giving this project some great thought. I haven't owned a VW for many years now, the last being a Scirocco GTI and a Mk2 Golf GTI back in 1992. I bought my VR6 last year on ebay of all places and it was a one mature lady owner from new and is pretty much mint with a full VAG history, I don't like the alloys though they are alright, I just think that larger alloys would improve the look of the car. I still don't understand how 17's with 40 profile tyres are less likely to rub than 18's with 35 profile tyres, I was always und

    Thanks for your honest replies, very interesting, it is now obvious why 17"s are so popular. Perhaps 17"s with a new suspension setup would be the way forward and a lot easier, I don't have access to many vehicle specialists where I live. Great site and thanks again !lol

    Hi, I am a new member to this site, please bear with me if this question has been asked before, I am after your advice please. I have a 1994 Golf VR6 which I have owned almost a year, it is a 3 door model and has standard suspension which I will probably retain. It currently has 16" Volex 5 spoke alloys fitted by the last owner which are nice but do not "float my boat". I have been making some enquiries, and have decided on a set of BK Racing 299's (I know they will not be everyone's own choice, but I like them) According to the chaps I have spoken to at BK Racing, they assure me that 7.5 X 18
