  2. I would be interested, Car isn't in "show" condition but, she's not too bad from the outside. Let me know whats happening....where is Inters?
  3. Glad to have an event near us!!! Looking forward to it.
  4. Have finally got the correct fluid in it and has had a major service (i.e. plugs, leads, fuel filter etc) and runs a million times better than before. Thanks for all your help, I was starting to worry that it would cost a fortune! but was very reasonable.
  5. Great, thanks so much. Hubby been and bought the fluid from VW this afternoon!!! Hubby going to change it as soon as possible!! Thanks for your help
  6. Hi All, have just had a pre MOT check of my VR6 and found we need to top up the Power Steering Fluid. We seem to have a gold fluid in there which smells like ATF Fluid. According to the manual we have, we shouldn't have AFT fluid in there ..... Does anyone know what we should have and where we can get it from? Also how much will we need to bleed the system? Is there anything else "special" we need other than Super Unleaded? We seem to be redoing peoples previous wrong doings!!!! Thanks a lot!!!!!!!!
  7. It is actually the Distributor Unit that we need. Volkswagen haven't got one and we can't seem to find a scrap engine (AAA) to get one off. Thanks for the help
  8. Hiya guys & gals. Just wondered if anyone knew of anywhere to get a Run on Pump and a Distributor for my Mk3 Golf VR6. Everyone I have spoken to just laughs at me! :@ Thanks Alexis
  9. Thanks, was kinda hoping it would just be a loose wire. Oh well, any ideas on how to detect which one?
  10. Our ABS Light keeps coming on every now and again. It can go off at start up and then come on again 2 minutes down the road or stays of completely. We have tried wiggle testing has anyone else encountered this problem. My hubby (mechanic) did a wheel bearing 7 ish weeks ago and we have had a lot of rain - could that contribute. We don't currently have access to testers so, we are having to start from the beginning. Cheers :-p
  11. Our light keeps coming on as we're driving along or will stay on at start up. Have tried the wiggle test - any ideas?
  12. Our light leeps coming on as we're driving along or will stay on at start up. Have tried the wiggle test - any ideas?
  13. Cheers for the advise. Seems to be OK (fingers crossed)although the rev counter has now started playing up .... ah the wonders of a golf VR6!
  14. After posting about a problem with my indicators, it went back to the dealer who replaced the loom - for the wipers not to work when I picked it up - they repaired that and now the rev counter doesn't work (a day after picking it up again). I could tell there was something wrong because as soon as something goes wrong, the alarm will only deactivate if stood at the drivers door - not while approaching the car. Do you think we have a real gremlin in the car or .... that it in fact a problem with the alarm that it causing all these problems with the electrics. !dodge Hubby who is a mechanic
  15. IT get worse - now they've replaced the loom and the wipers don't work! x) I have a Mk 3 Vauxhall Astra as a loan car completely plastered with the name and telphone number of the dealer - hubby is completely ashamed to be in it!!!! :?
  16. Picked up my K plate VR6 on the 1st of March - it has been returned twice because the indicators stop working then when you put on the hazards the engine surges (drawing power) It then burned out the relay! !grr When I took it back to they said they will have to rip the front of the car off and replace the wiring loom for the indicators. Are these Gremlins all partof the fun or owning a VR6 !lol or is this just one of those things. They couldn't have gone at a worse time on the motorway at night (exellent). When they had it back last time they also messed up the alarm because is shorted
  17. We have only just been able to think about anything like a VR6 and we are 26 and 25! I had to work my way up from a 1.2 Nova and then a 1.4 Escort, then a 1.6 Escort 2.0 Mondeo and now VR6. !lol Can easily believe that you have been quoted £3,400 - my brother-in-law was quoted £1,500 for a 1.0 Polo when he was 19! Persevere and you will find a good one in a couple of years ..... you will find a newer one with low mileage. If you do decide to go ahead - it will be the best fun you ever had. My hubby was a Ford Mechanic and has driven Cossie's etc but the VR6 is the best!
