  1. You can try to clean it....it may be caked in black gunk. Just brake cleaner or wd40 clean it up and try it!
  2. Try the cam sensor.....up next to the coil pack. If thats not sensing right might be givin false readings only some of the time and limiting something!
  3. Yea its for up to 1600cc only i think!
  4. shuddit you! you dont even have a VR ;-) :-P it's a good turnout... :-) Yea Ben, tell him Helen :-p doesnt matter what colour it is......except baby blue which wev all know is gay lol
  5. Lookin nice ibzzz.....lovin the title lolol, you should come down the A10 retail park where mcd's is, as your only Palmers Green, on a Sunday night.....some nice cars meet down there!
  6. if you have put wd on a obd2 maf then its probably killed it....you can only use isopropyl alcohol availiable from maplins as it leaves NO residue unlike wd or contact cleaner. The maf heats to 1000C to burn off deposits so is very delicate. To the orignal poster if lead 6 when unplugged didnt change the sound then its probably failed....how did you check it to say its fine. Tried another lead????
  7. This thread is soooo old! and THE ONLY way to tell is not from any panels or brakes....obd stands for on board diagnostics so its to do with the managment of the engine and fuelling system. If your throttle body is an obd2 with the electronic throttle position sensor on the side then you are obd2 if its just a mechanical tb then you obd1!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  8. They fit but the revs will be wrong as 3.5's are 4 cylinder and speedo only goes to 140mph. Depending on the year of your car you can change the bulbs to blue/red leds to get the same effect
  9. Do you mean the clear plastic headlamp protectors....if so and they have the vw part number on them then yes they were an accessory. Got a couple of sets myself!
  10. Fan shouldnt be on all the time. Check the fan control relay box under the header tank! Could be faulty....there is a few fuses in there too?
  11. Hmmm temp sensor would cause this. To test a maf on an early car unplug it while its runnin......iirc it should cut out!
  12. What year is your car may help. If its a later type i would guess at MAf too as the car would seem fine with a dead MAF but run and smell rich!
  13. Yea silver is nice on a vr...keep it!
  14. Its the box which all the leads plug into on the side of the engine. If you spray some water on there at night while the car is running looks for sparking or arcing to confirm!
  15. Why is the osr sensor the most common to go???? its usually the pump on the later cars which points to the osr? You really need vagcom mate as looking at your sig yours is the earlier abs system with the seperate ecu under the seats! get the part number off it and see if you can borrow one for testing.
  16. as above almost certain the coilpack has the dreaded cracks in it!
  17. Vagcom will give you more of an idea than a universal reader!
  18. Dan you need the obd2 style adapter lead and Rustyman....not really a crossover model iirc its only the very early ones that had the 2x2 connector....most 95 cars are next to the ashtray in my experience!
