    Engine probs

    To cut a long story short. I run round with my temperatute sender wire disconected. Why because if i connect it the car will start when its cold but once warm it wont. The sender is ok iv measured the resistance cold and hot. I some timse bang in a set of resistors that make the ecu think its cold. This is great. The car goes like hell but also uses a vast amount of jucie. Its prob banging in more fuel than it needs. The car will start after a couple of seconds of cranking. This engine is a bloody night mare. It hesitates when under load, very anoying. it has a disributer not a coil pack. get
  3. Does any one know where i can obtain new carpets for my car from. Iv looked at a couple of web sites but once on them they dont actually tell you anything you want to know.   4. I aquired a Chiltons manual for my Vr6 and having worked out that the Lambda probe wasnt working i decided to take a look. Low and behold lots of chopped out bits of wire and connecters had been added. I started to read the manual and decided the best way was to rewire the hole thing, the manual witters on about VR^6 golfs only having the Motronic system yet the manual only gives you wiring diagrams for the digifant system. Does any one know where i can get hold of the correct wiring diagram pref. from the tinternet. Iv had alot of troble with this car and its obviously at some point had a tra

    Mystery Engine

    I have a VR6 Golf with an engine with a distributor does any one know what it could have come out of. Having lots of trouble with hesitating engine.
  6. Not being up to speed on VR6 engines im still loking for that elusive answer to the question why has my VR6 engine got a distributer and not a coil pack and where can i look to for info on sorting out the ABS system. Merry Xmas Ben Hobson ben.hobson1@tesco.net
  7. A pressurised system can be either a head gasket or an air lock. For the head gasket i would run the car from cold with the expansion cap off and as the car warms up, the water exspands filling the tank up to the top. a quick 10 to 20 second blip on the throttle at high revs would in the case of a serious Gasket leak send water spewing over the top and on some cars iv seen it gush up in the air. Another trick is to take it to a garage with a old style exhaust emissions tester ie a small crypton type tester with a sniffer pipe and place the snifer pipe in the expansion tank.   8. Hello there, thanks to the prevoius emails i have received regarding the hesitation on my car. What i would like to ask today is i was recently given a Chiltons manual which includes the VR6, but once reading it it tells you that all 2.8 VR6 engins are distributerless and have coils packs instead. Is this true. because my 1993 car has a distributer and a single coil like you have in alot of cars. This vehical has always been a bit of a mystery and we dont currently know were the engine is from. This makes purchasing bits very exspensive when they turn out to be not for this engine when parts
  9. hello there any one. Many months ago i reported that my car had a serious lack of power but some times went like hell. Eventually i disconected the air flow meter and apart from stalling a few times at junctions it went a hell of a lot better but it still always had this problem that if you flawed the accelerater the car sort of held back, hesitated, if you lifted your foot the car picked up but in doing this the thing was never accelerating as fast as it could.   10. Hello there, A big thanks to all w#ho helped me with my spluttering engine problem. Yes disconected the MAF and it did maj#ke the car go a hell of a lot better, but where do you get one from and if i j#have to by genuine what sort of price are we talking. The car was still left witha small splutter on low down revs under load. I changed the distributer cap and rota arm, which i might add was loctited on ( a cording to a VW man a work its comon to loctite them on. This has cured any spluttering. Just shows cheap options some times work, But yes still need MAF. My next problem is i have no door
  11. Hello bought Golf VR6 a few months ago, Has been Chipped with a bolt on chip pack wired directly into the harness, proper job done by a repituable company. The car at first fair went especialy around the 4500 rpm mark were it seemed to take off. After a few weeks it started spluttering throught the rev range. It also every now and again did and still does a 5 to ten second kangaroo down the road where there is a total loss of power momenteraly but returns to normal after the 5 to ten seconds. the major loss of power is where it used to take off at 4500 rpm it now holds back, very hesitant, occ
