vag com diagnostocs Results - help and advise please
6potmkII replied to 6potmkII's topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
iv jus bought a new maf and fitted it. same thing. theres jus no power at high revs and the power delivery is intermittant. comes in and out. could it be a weak fuel pump? can this cause this as my 8v one is on its last legs , constant loud whining. and it doesnt juder like a proper missfire, just loses power smoothly if you kno what i mean. everything else has been changed, plugs, leads, maf, coilpack, cleaned hall sensor...... what else can it be. the only codes that came up on vag com where the above ones.... -

my problems got to be something to do with these. maybe the codes need to be erased in order for it to run properly.... plugs, leads, coilpack have all been changed, hall sensor been cleaned, one thing i am worried about tho is my maf. its a new one from gsf but i think there recon'd. when i fitted it, it didnt run as good as one i tried off a mates car. -
got the car onto vag com as the car missfires/loses power and doesnt run on all cylinders when warm. its an obd2 lump in a mk2. here are the codes and explainations from the report, im not sure how to resolve all the problems: 00668 - supply voltage to terminal 30 signal too low intermitant 01247 - shareware version to decode all dtc's 00553 - shareware version to decode all dtc's 00281 - vehicle speed sensor g68 no signal how do i go about sorting the above problems out? cheers komi

they usualy go to 90 (dead middle on the gauge) and stay there. i personaly would keep like that throughout summer den change it back later.

Tapping noise after new cams and tappets...
6potmkII replied to sam29's topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
mate, put your head rite under the car when its on and see if the noise is coming from the sump area. to me from the clip, its hard to tell because theres a constant "whining" in the background, but sounds like bigs ends/conrod bearings. is the knock sensor connected? the more i listen to the 2nd clip (warm) the more i can hear it knocking -
crankshaft what does this mean
6potmkII replied to johnemerson38's topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
thats normal mate, i saw the same "5.2" 's on the conrods and scores on the crank when i done the big ends on my last vr6. and the crank shaft, is the main shaft that runs through the block. its is what the conrods (attatched to the pistons) are attatched to. the parts where all the 'scores' are, is part of the crank -
depends on how much your willing to spend mate. i wouldnt change the gearbox unless its eff'd too. at 90k, id start off with timing chains and new clutch as the box and fly wheels off. thatl prob cost you 260 ish on parts and about 250-300 labour. at the same time, if you want to build the engine for turbo, get metal head gasket and cams as the chains are off. then all the things thatl make it run well like new afm, new leads, plugs service etc again depends on how much you wana spend, if you want to run big boost, youl need to go into lower comp pistons, and a rebuild, big end bearings, arp c

if you already have a couple grand, id wait a bit longer till you can afford a supercharger kit, as antera said, you want to increase your torque low down in the rev range so you can pull through those long ratio'd auto gears. you could get cams, chip, induction kit etc, keep it n/a, but you will mainly see the gains at the higher end of the rev range, so still will take a bit of time to get going!

i personaly would go late '95 onwards, coilpack models as they tend to produce slight bit more power as standard, but this is only if you manage to get the ecu, transponder box and key from the same car. or.... you could try and find a corrado vr6, and have a 2.9

ive just done my conversion mate, IDEALY, the best thing to do is try to find a written off or cheap mk3 vr6. that way you have ALL the parts you need: subframe, driveshafts, box, full loom, ecu, transponder box with keys (if you buy 95 onwards vr6), hydrolic clutch mech, etc and because you mk2 is 1990, the loom will fit more or less straight into the fuse box. the only thing you will need to buy is corrado pedal box. go onto www.mk2vr6.com there alot of info there too! komi

if you have anyone with a diagnostics machine, get it on there and see what it says, if not, then plugs and leads (common fault) first, if that doesnt do it, i bet my money on the afm. i recently cured my miss firing prob with a new one.

VR is not running right but why
6potmkII replied to Crozo's topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
best thing is diagnostics test so you dont go wasting your money on things you dont need, but, imo if youve changed the plugs and leads, my next move would be afm. also could be coilpack or hall sensor. i just got rid of my misfire at low revs, it was the afm -
holding back at 5000rpm.....
6potmkII replied to 6potmkII's topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
had it done before when it was missfiring, and came up with afm, i now have a new one and it has stopped the miss fire but engine just holds back at high revs -
hi guys the engines holding back/losing power at around 5000rpm, especialy in 1st gear. pulls nicely low down in the rev range but loses it all 5000+ cars recently had new plugs, and coil pack, but not leads, could bad leads cause this? weak fuel pump? cheers

hard vibration under accelaration and over 40mph
6potmkII replied to 6potmkII's topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
also forgot to add, suspentions new and subframes fine im baffed!!! -
as above guys everything looks fine even under the ramp, drive shaft apears to be straight. the only thing i havnt changed is the hubs and bearings and drive shaft. doesnt sound like a worn bearing and theres no play in the wheel. happens more when i turn to the right aswell (assuming all the pressure goes to the left wheel) anyone had this? small chance but maybe a bent hub? worn cv's? its not down to balancing or tracking either.... cheers

She still wont start and stay on!!!
6potmkII replied to 6potmkII's topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
what year was his vr6? what did he do about the transponder and key? so it fired up but kept cutting out, same timing each time yeh? -
hey guys had a prob with transponder and ecu codes, but had vagcom to it, deleted the codes and reprogrammed it all, and still the same prob! still comes up with the error "ecu immob blocking" (something along those lines) even after its been programmed! any ideas? could it be F'd ecu or transponder box? what i dont understand is, it was all working fine in the donor car. any help much appreciated
