just do it at the highest point possible inbetween 2 of the screws that hold the sump on... not a v9f user but thats where my turbo return is had no probs....
-
9:1 turbo 12psi
-
bobtrude - i dont think ul get them " vrrrrrrrr " induction noise of the vr back to be honest, i even lost it when i had the mk2 vr i had that was charged with 6 psi... Kev - lol yeh not that much faster tbh only roughly double the power :-p
-
fitted the 1 bar spring today and sorted boost leak i noticed... i hve much less lag now i get 14psi at round 3600rpm and now running 14psi, my gosh is it quick!! i think il ditch the boost controler alltogether to be honest and get maybe 12 psi spring and 264's.... bobtrude let us know how you get on with the 3" downpipe mine made quite bit of differance...
-
tbh i was in two minds about the avcr, might just go for the tsmart, but i like the display of the avcr and all its other options like controlling the boost levels in differant gears and rpm's... at the mo i have a "7psi" spring in the wastegate that runs only 5psi, i also have a "1bar" spring for it. im going to put that in saturday and hopefully it only runs 12/13psi then i wont even need a boost controler il be happy at that, vac pipe straight to the wastegate....

patrick so your saying its consuming alot yeh seen as youve checked the sender side of things?? take the plugs out and see what condition there in that might give you a rough indication of what its running like if there black as hell youl kno its overfueling that much, check if theres any air leaks into the system after the maf by sprayin some thing like brake cleaner along the air system, cos that will be unmetered air, lambda will tell ecu its running lean and chuck more fuel in so even tho your in traffic this is happening all the time and consumption will be high... if not check or try a

i think thats the next buy then... just when i drew the line to stop spending on the car lol!!

my cars finaly mapped now c2 kit, car running alot better and im gettin full boost around the 3700/3800rpm mark jon, with similar turbo to urself, also just running off the spring in the tial 38mm wastegate... my Q is, im also going to order the avcr, how would you fit this to an external wastegate? is it hard to set up on the vr6 ie injector duties and all that... as a friend had one on his puntoGT turbo and he was forever setting his up....
-
wont make a differance to performance or anythin like that just replace all the chains and guides while the engines out
-
how much boost are you running and how big is your downpiep and exhausts system out of curiousity....
-
gt30r maybe? i think kevheywires probably the best person to ask as hes tried a number of differant turbos... mines not driving properly at the moment but by the looks of things im gona get full boost around 4000rpm too but i dont mind as i dont have a lsd and the car will hopefully be rolling to a stage where itl help with the traction when the boost does come in....

i personaly do not think ul gain an amazing amount at all unless it actualy had a bigger diameter/bored out and even then, the inlet manifold would still have the standard bore so it might be the same... i think if you have an obd1, ud benefit from a corrado 2.9 TB and inlet mani but some one will probably correct me if im wrong

DIY car remap, ECU tuning, Millage corection software, £9.99 ebay???
6potmkII replied to Phat VR6's topic in Engine Tuning
raising the red line would require some sort of map for the extra revs you give it, will need more fuel and maybe differant ignition timing it dont think its just the case of raising the limiter.... -
you wont see performance gains with just leads whatever they are. people run turbo'd vr's upto 400-500bhp and still on standard leads
-
i did it because i had the parts off another engine. the double chain will atleast last you another 80k from the time you replace it, so if you can see yourself owning the car for that amount of time it may be worth it, other than that you wont see any performance gains
-
yes i recently rebuilt my 2nd engine obd2 and it was double chain. easily converted to single chain, you need both cam sprockets, the smaller bottom sprocket that both chains connect to and new top single chain. i think vw quoted me around 40+vat each for cam sprockets and around that for the chain too cant remem smaller sprocket

e36 bmw.... at work from memory all the rads have the expansion tanks attatched to the rad, are top filled and dont take much space in the bay... weather itl fit in the mk3 bay i duno
-
nice one, when you looking to start her!
-
depends on how much you can find the parts for, some people spend 500/600 pounds + labour, then 350 + VAT for shrick cams and a remap and probably dont see 20bhp so if you can find the lot off a written off vr6 for few hundred quid id say its defo worth 20bhp. also, for future referance if you plan on doing anything else to the car like SC, obd2 management will respond to it alot better especialy when its remaped... and dont forget in order for obd2 ecu to work you will need the ecu/transponder box/and key chip all from the same car
-
another option maybe, probably not the best compared to decent standalone, but if theres anybody in the u.s. that can map the standard management, it may be worth converting to obd2 as i beleive the bosch obd2 managment will support upto 400bhp if you can control inlet temps.... as i say tuning wise, not as good as $2700 standalone, but maybe an option... if that downpipe cleares everything in the engine bay, shouldnt be too hard making a branch off to the wastegate?
-
i had a raceland mani on my mk2SC, and it started blowing from the welds the day i fitted it... welds are weak imo and sounds tiny from cold. radostorm thats the setup i have too, 2.5inch with 2 silencers but with turbo manifold
-
u mite notice a slight slight gain very high up in the rev range, but around town below 4000 revs ud probably more notice the loss in lower down torque.... id second not worth doing on its own performance wise however, depending on which one you get, may look nicer than the standard one
-
clean engine, whats the spec? also what turbo you using? i thought c2 mapped the ecu to run up2 around the 16-17 psi... i would have thought ud make around the 400 mark with that... also this site states there fueling kits support upto 400bhp http://www.ngpracing.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=C2-Fuel-S2&Category_Code=fuelkits
