awaiting my charger, and it has a 8psi pully with it, was thinking to start with 6 and standard brown tops, but as im getting it mapped, might aswell leave the 8 on and get bigger injectors.... whats the next size up, 305cc red tops? wheres the best place to get them? cheers

they are just saying that for the sake of it, just incase you listen to them and actualy do it. if they could have done you, they would have there and then

imo its where in the rev range your car creates all its torque that determines how the car feels on the road. so realy in the vr's case, its above 4000rpm because when your racing, your nearly always above that anyway. the civic typeR that was previously mensioned, yes only creates 145lb, but where does it create it, probly at around 6000rpm where it counts as engines around that rev range when its racing. so back to the point of how it feels on the road, if on paper, the torque figures higher, but @ the wrong place in the rev range (ie lower down) when your caining the car racing, it will be

Supercharger with 268 cams? can it be done with suitable mapping?
6potmkII replied to 6potmkII's topic in Engine Tuning
tell me about it £500 a go.... so are you gona put your standard cams back in? or stick with the 268's? i would have thought with a charger, low down torque would have been quite good anyway, plus itl help get traction and once your moving, off you go at 4000rpm?? im unsure what to do now... -
easi guys and girls iv heard from some people its not good to run the 268 cams with supercharger.... (not that i dont value there opinions but).... is it because it will cause damage or just not work aswell (not as much torque)? what if i was running say 6psi with 268 cams and it was taken to say vince at stealth? cheers
-
other than 300 map at stealth, is there anywhere alse i can get a chip based on my mods for less £££? i kno a rr map is much better, but im a bit unsure with the near future plans for the engine, and dont want to waste 300 incase i do anything else major cos il have to just get it mapped again....

thanks mate all in now, easy peasi! nuts where 20nm and bolts for sprockets onto cams where 100nm! feel more horses at really high revs but have lost torque imo!! i need to drive it around for a while to make up my overall conlclusion but 1st impresions are good

as said previously i think, it usualy happens when its running lean, fuel starvation in that cylinder
-
i think the gearbox bearings are whining and getting worse by the week! at first thought it was wheel bearing but im pretty sure the noise is from the box... few q's really.. are they hard to replace? any other vag boxs fit the vr6 to change the ratio for the better? where do i purchase/and how hard is it to fit a diferant final drive? cheers
-
hi as above guys/girls and is it worth doing? anyone done it? cheers komi
-
just a quick Q, timing chains will be done tommorow, and new clutch goin in as box is off. just wondering how much the standard vr clutch can take, as im going turbo in the very near future, im lookin at say 6psi/250bhp, is that ok on oe clutch? cheers komi

if the car is burning oil, it could be the rings, but it wouldnt necccesarily lose power. if its burning under hard accel it could well be your rings, as sprx3 says, best way is to do compression test.

vag com diagnostocs Results - help and advise please
6potmkII replied to 6potmkII's topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
fuel filters brand new, its an mk2 so only an 8v pump but they run at higher pressure than the vr6 i believe. its just that the fuel pump nackered i think, as it doesnt loose power as bad when its a full tank, and also the pump doesnt whine as much. -
