  1. Thank you all very much for all your helpful advise, I spent yesterday armed with multimeter and a meter of wire and couldn't find anything wrong. Last port of call was the alarm, I thought it was a standard model but it turned out to be a serpi star 420 removed all the wiring and lo and behold the indicators are functioning normally. Shame the imobiliser circuits seem to include more than just the starter...Otherwise it would be history Its like a mass of wires and the ideal would seem to be disconecting the drivers indicator feed. Now to see if i can track down a wiring diagram... Regards, K
  2. I spent some more time looking and tried the earths in the boot but no joy, they look nice and clean. Removing it only turns off the bulb on the rear cluster the others stay on. Even removing the fuses for warning lights, indicators etc doesn't seem to make any difference. The only clue could be that the hazards don't flash even the passenger ones but just come on full time. Arghhhh...
  3. I think you may be right, I forgot to mention they go on right away if you connect the battery. Wiring is my worst nightmare I think its time to call in the pros...
  4. Hi Antony, I had the same problem when i got mine, only thing that worked was disconnecting from the battery waiting about 30 minutes. after that is seems to behave, now anytime it starts any nonsence it gets the battery reset. You can also turn off the siren with the small alarm key, the control is beside the battery under a wee cover. Regards, keith
  5. My Indicators on the drivers side of the car stay on 24/7 Ive tried a new relay but its still all 3 indicators on constantly. It doesn't seem to affect the passenger side they even flash when the turn thing is selected. I'm have had to disconnect the battery until i can get the buggers to go off. I checked the wiring at the bulbs but it all seems peachie no rust and the connectors are ok. I'm at a complete loss, Just wondered if anyone could shed some light... Regards, Keith
  6. Has anyone ever come across a diy complete idiot guide to removing the crappie scorpion alarm(obd1 95 mk3)? I'm driven nuts by the 'oh today i'll work peachie, tomorrow i think i'll not work, but i'll wait until youve driven to the petrol station for maximum effect' can it be disabled? reset? beaten by a large sledgehammer until it dies completely.. Any help would be magic, i'm miles away from a decent alarm shop, and the locals want megamoney to even have a look.
  7. Thanks fellas, i'm not alone , it just blew up could be because my coilpack is knackered...
  8. Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks to the odb1/2 id guide for the pic, my digicam is on the blink.
  9. vag com, cable arrived and fired up on the laptop, engine only displayed one fault engine speed sensor faulty or no signal dont know how this could be responsible for the battery drain.. its an 95 OBD1, can anyone tell me where its located? cheers, Keith
  10. So the coil went on, cleaned up looking good as new, slabbered in about six coats of epoxy. Started first time. Idled and backfired like a pig and the died. The Battery now seems to be draining... The burning electrical smell talked about earlier was definately something else as the coil didn't smell at all. A bit freeked now because the dash computer display is now bonkers. got a vag com cable hopefully next week, but any pointers would be appreciated. Keith
  11. You could be spot on with the coil pack, it looks completely buggered. I think it was the grease that was keeping it held together. I've been assured by a chap that used to work for vw that they usually just crack off the old casing clean it up a bit, slabber it in epoxy, and put on a new casing, don't know its going to work... but i'll give it an araldite bath before shelling out on a new one...
  12. I am having a power of hastle, The beast developed a weird intermitant starting problem, it would ping when you turned the ignition but persevere and it would eventually start. Wouldn't idle properly for the first 20 secs but then settle down, last night the thing went bang on starting and i got the putrid smell of burning electrics. nothing else seems affected and now its just pinging when the ignition is turned. The starter is relatively new april06, i've looked under the bonnent but can see bugger all. Any help or pointers greatly appreciated... Keith
