  1. Engine starts and idles perfectly when cold, i.e first thing thing in the morning. I turn the car off for 5-10 minutes and when starting it again, it cuts out and will cut out unless I rev it a bit then it will idle perfectly again. This can be revving to 1100 or 2000, anything will keep it going. Also, complete lack of power up to 1500ish rpm, making pulling away very difficult, a good 2 seconds or more to get a response from the engine after pressing the accelerator, anyone heard of that before? Was fine later on in the day

Ok going back a while, but if anyone still cares - tdi 5th gives 2200rpm at 70mph in 5th, VR6 is 2800/2900ish
  3. Had the air con regassed the other week, pretty cold but not as much as you'd expect. Seemed to get colder on the dual carriageways or when going along quickly, anyway, sat in traffic yesterday and sounds like the fan has come on but there is also a lot of vibration through the car and suddenly the air con is freezing - whats that all about?
  4. A new or nearly new MG ZS was behind me the other day, presuming it was the 2.5, was holding him up by the looks of it! He was much quicker than me
  5. A floorpan brace, goes where rear seat passenger's feet would be. There's a link to a cabrio with it on here, can't remember where though. Probably not a noticable difference, and will only get one if/when one comes along cheap enough. They must have made it for a reason...
  6. I have read a couple of your posts over the past few days, as i'm thinking of going the same route, but can't find them again. Main question, is generic adjustable uprated dampers, i.e Koni, Gaz etc. suitable for use with standard springs? I'm thinking those suitable for all mk3s with lowering springs, may suit a VR with standard springs as they are 15mm lower(I think thats right, sure I read that somewhere), can anyone confirm i'm right or wrong? This setup would be possibly in conjuction with rear ARB and maybe that cabrio centre brace if I could find one

  8. The power steering does make a little noise at full lock, I thought it only made noise when the wheel is being turned? What noise will a failing slave cylinder make apart from the clicking when depressing the clutch pedal? Mines on its way out and hoping its related really
  9. Ok, have a strange whine coming from the car; Does it when the car is first started in the morning and the revs are slightly higher, and car is stationary, Does it when letting off the accelerator and revs drop below 2000 when driving, Does it when the air con is on or off, and when steering is being turned or not. Noise does not change if clutch is depressed or not. Noise is more noticable inside the car, than with the bonnet up outside the car (its not coming through the speakers!) Sounds like a quiet horn/trumpet, with the radio on at normal levels you can't really hear it. Any ideas? The s
  10. Hi, first time on here but no matches for the problems the car has (sorry its long winded); After the engine is switched off, I can hear a gurgling noise from the top coolant hose at the back of the engine, the one that goes into the bulkhead and has a tee on it that goes over to the throttle body area. There is a whirring noise from the side of the engine also when switched off, this is the area where the large round plug is above the gearbox. The water in the expansion tank is bubbling when the cap is off (and the cap has a big split in it...) Water temp stays dead centre, and the oil temp s
