  1. Mine has just started this today... it's in every gear in low revs and it's never done it before yesterday. Did you get it sorted in the end OP? Mark
  2. Hi Guys, My '97 VR6 has just hit 57k and is due a service (i.e. there is a VW sticker in the top right of the windscreen saying 57k). This will be the first service due since I have owned the car. The car is currently FVWSH and I'm wondering if I should take it to VW for the service and how much I should expect to pay? I have spoken to them and they say as my car is approaching ten years old they can only do a 100k service. I'm just a little bit dubious about main dealers and their extortionate prices, but obviously would like to keep the FVWSH if possible. If anyone could advise I'd appre
  3. I also noticed that there are what seem to be factory fitted phono and CD changer cables (so I more than likely didn't even need to remove the headunit to begin with.. ) fitted. Does anyone knwe where the other endof the cables will be? I looked inthe boot but couldn't see them. It doesn't look like there has ever been a CD changer in my car. I started a new thread here: http://www.vr6oc.com/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?131747 Cheers Mark Silent in Bournemouth
  4. I removed my standard Sony tape deck headunit yesterday (http://www.vr6oc.com/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?131610) from my 97 VR6 and noticed that there is already phono cables and a CD changer cable fitted. Now my car doesn't have a CD changer and from looking in the boot it doesn't look like there has ever been one fitted. So I guess these must be factory fitted cabled for easy installation of the CD changer. I can't find the other end of these cables. So does anyone know where I'll find the end of the cables... I've had a look in the boot and can't see them. Any advice much apprec
  5. Bucket of water didn't drown out the noise enough, the hammer did. Gutted as i wasn't planning on replacing the head unit just yet. :-(
  6. Hello mate, I got the front and rear bumpstops and front top mounts from German Sweedish French, I think it worked out about £40 ish quid for them all in. Mark
  7. I've read some other threads and people don't seem to have any idea how to stop it. Is is even possible? Othrwise by trying to fit my cd chager have I killed a perfectly good head unit?? Am I going to have to smash it up now? Noooo please say no... I don't have the money for another one.. Mark
  8. Please help me, I wanted to remove my standard Sony head unit to see about fitting the CD changer and after going to by some removal keys from halfords, the helpful chap told me to simply unscrew the front of the head unit and pull it out. No need for keys. So unsuspectingly I've done this and at the second I removed the last screw in the head unit and have it a little pull it started beeping the loudest most ear piercing noise I've ever heard. How do I shut it up? The thing is I wanted to continue using the head unit but it won't stop beeping even if I screw it all back together and put
  9. I've just got it back, it was finished about an hour ago so it's just been done and initially I'm pleased, it's certainly much lower than it was before. Before lowering I could easily get a fist between the tyre and the arch at the front, now it's just about two fingers and slightly less at the back. But the guy who fitted it reckons it'll settle down a little bit more over the next few days. I've taken some very quick pics to show those who are interested but there is quite a camber on the road so I think it looks a little higher than it actually is, so the last pic is on flatter ground.
  10. Okay a little later than I had planned, but it's being done today, so hopefully I'll have some before and after pics in a few hours... fingers crossed!
  11. It seems I lied, there has been a mix-up and it's not happening today (I was quite excited too!) so fingers crossed it'll be next Saturday. Suspension gets to live on my living room floor for another week! Mark
  12. Suspension fitting day today.. I've just taken some pics pre GMAX... so fingers crossed it'll be lower and firmer by this evening! I'll get some pics up ASAP. Mark
  13. Actually I knew there was something that I was going to ask. When removing the original grill it was really hard work. Is there a particular technique for removing it? What I did was unclip the bits attached to the front of the car above the radiator, but there was no way of reaching the others att he bottom to I just had to pull the grill REALLY hard for ages, that loosed the bottom ones but the ones at the far left and right edges beneath the headlights were a complete nightmare, I really had to pull and try to wedge my fingers between the front of the car the the grill to pull. I though
