Hello all, I have strange but annoying problem with the needle on my 97' VR6 rev counter. I had to move it the other day, as the chrome rings on the dials had fallen off. I reset the needle to just below the 0 mark, so when you turn the ignition on the needle moves up to 0. I noticed though that the needle drops slightly every time I turn on the ignition. It has done it so much that now it sits on right below the 0 mark. It seems to be a mechanical 'drop' rather than a loose needle. I have tried re-aligning the needle, but it keeps moving! Has anyone evet had this, and how did you fix it? Many

A beautiful example, very subtle. Excuse my ignorance folks, but I've wondered for a while, what does the rabbit mean?

Evening all, I have just received my VR back fully repaired and looking good as new after a light front end crash 1 month ago. After the crash (I went into the back of somone) I noticed a strange vibration coming through the steering wheel, and an odd noise. The best way to describe it would be like driving over a load of cats eyes. It sounds like it is coming from the nearside front wheel. Does anybody hve any suggestions as to what this could be? The car had a structural check after the crash and nothing was found to be wrong. Could it be a wheel bearing? Would a wheel bearing cause a sensat

Hi Bobda, The rings are in! took me about 1 hour to fit, was fairly straight forward, only trick part was trying not to lose the tiny star head screws that hold the screen in place over the dials. I will post up some pics in a bit. I got the rings from E-gay, just like these: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VW-Golf-Mk-3-III-JETTA-CHROME-DIAL-RINGS-SURROUNDS_W0QQitemZ180085451185QQihZ008QQcategoryZ9889QQrdZ1QQssPageNameZWD1VQQcmdZViewItem

Thanks for the advice Xyber, I'm hoping I won't need to actually unplug the dials, as I juts want to clip in my chrome dial surrounds. Will give it a go.

Evening all, What is the safest way to lever out dash panels? I'm attempting to remove the dials at the weekend, and I really don't want to scratch any dash plastics. I'm thinking flat blade screw driver with a microfibre towel or similar over the top. Any suggestions? Cheers

Evening all, I plugged my VR into VAG COM at the weekend, and I finally found my ABS problem - VAG COM was showing a fault with the N/S rear sensor, so we jacked the car up,and found that where we had re-positioned by ABS wire to allow fitment of my Eibach ARB's, the heat from the exhaust has mellted the ABS wire insualtion. We adjusted the position of the wire, and re-insulated, but it appears to have been too damaged, and the light stays on. Can I purchase a new wire, or should I attempt to chop out the bad part, and wire a new bit? The damage is a few inches away from where the multi-plug i

Hello all, Does anyone know if it possible to repair squashed jacking points? The N/S front is quite squashed, and me being the perfectionist I would like to get then straigtened out. Has anybody had this done? Many thanks!

Hello all, A quick Q: Can I fit VW side skirts to my VR6 and retain the mudflaps?? Thanks!
-
Hi Chuck, Are you on about the jacking points? I would like to know too ,as my jacking points are squished. I have heard of them being straightened out, but I'm not sure where to go to get this done. I'll let you know if I find anywhere! Cheers

Thanks Dreamer! I managed to get the sensor out with a chisel. The new one slipped in OK. The only problem I have now is the ABS lamp won't go out - do I need to disconnect the battery? Thanks

Evening all! I have done a couple more little bits to the car in the last week or so, so here are some updated pics. Pukka Hella red rear lamps: Engine bay with BMC CDA: I also took all the wheels off and cleaned them up: I have added some bits to the interior too, with chrome heater knobs, VW alloy door triggers and some Trimspoprt door pins. More pics when I get her lowered.

Evening all, My N/S ABS sensor is broken. I attempted to remove it on the weekend so I could fit my new one, but it wouldn't budge! I have heard of people 'breaking them down' to remove, what is the best way to do this? Thanks.
