Folks, Can y'all please take a look at this for me http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=200024070626 and advise me if these brake lines will fit my Golf? And as an aside, if they wont fit mine then perhaps they might appeal to y'all? The price seems faitr to me. My Car: 1996 (97 MY) 2.8 (auto) 5 door hatchback. Many thanks.

VAG-COM - Anyone own a copy in Herts, Beds, Bucks?
ihpj replied to ripstop's topic in Wheels, Brakes, Suspension and Steering
I have the full VAG-COM (with KEY USB) and am in Milton Keynes mate if it is any closer? -
To help give you an idea (and I'm the *real* paranoid sort) I had all the fluids (coolant & brake), sparks, all filters (air / pollen / fuel) and of course the oil & filter changed as well as some other minor work done on the car. Mine came with FVWSH but I wanted to be sure that stuff was done and done right. That way (like with timing belts) you don't take a chance and know that the stuff has been done. Most of it (plugs and filters) you cna do yourself. Fluids I'd take to a garage to be done (easy to dispose of etc.) and get them to check it over too. Then you'll know it's strai

I bought the cable (KEY USB) from Ross Tech while I was out in the US this past Summer. I decided to invest in VAG COM simply because I was cream crackered at having to pay £30 - £40 for a fault to be 'read' by a machine. I paid £115'ish all inc. while in the US (exchange rate) - and I'm stunned to see that this piece of kit is being sold here for £200 (inc.)... Latest version of the software rocks, unfortunately though the VR6 doesn't support many of the 'funky controllers' to really customise the vehicle's working Anyhoo, if you buy the official cable, you can download the latest soft

Where to get a new ariel for my 1997 golf vr6?
ihpj replied to matth76's topic in Parts, Suppliers and Companies
I bought minde from eBay - genuine item for 5GBP (inc. del.) here http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=36676&item=150001202596 although the seller isn't selling any more units - scour the 'Bay man -
I wouldn't trust my car to any Indy for this sort of work. So i called my local Dealers. I got (Wayside MK) to quote at about 1500GBP, Kieth garages (Aylesbury) 700GBP, I think The Phirm said 1000GBP. I'm tempted to get my chains done sooner rather than later at 700GBP (all inc.) at Keiths. call around the various dealers and see what you get.

[moved] recoding of keys for a mk3 golf 96 p reg
ihpj replied to nogama3's topic in I.C.E, Security an Electrical
For what it's worth, my Wife lost her set of keys and it cost me 16GBP (inc. VAT) for the key (with light) and 40GBP (inc. VAT) to re-code it at Kieth Garages (Aylesbury). -
Brake and Pad upgrades - a little help please
ihpj replied to rodney's topic in Wheels, Brakes, Suspension and Steering
To be fair, I ran EBC GreenStuff pads and EBC TurboGroove discs on my PUG 205 GTi - great stopping power. I wouldn't however put that setup on my BMW 330i - for which I think they're not best suited. Maybe OE discs with RedStuff pads, but I guess the moral of the story is it depends on your driving style and brake use. -
Whatever the cause my problem it seems to be intermittant. I ahven't seen the light since the system was reset (for a second time)...

Crikey! Thats the exact same fault I've got come up on my car: "ABS outside of tolerances" - coupled with the ABS light coming on. I had the fault cleared and system re-set. Light came on once since then (thats 3 weeks of driving) and I found it tends to come on when the weather has been hot. But if you switch off, leave it for 20 secnds and re-start it goes out and stays out. If the car or is used for 'in town runs' light doesn't come on. I had to pay £35 for the fault to be 'read' (different issue altogether I know) and cleaned the ABS contact in the engine bay etc. and no obvious sign

What constitues a 'late' VR6? I'm after a set of Goodridge hoses for my 1996 'P' VR6. If I cna post info about my car to help you determine if it is a 'late' or 'early' model, let me know. If price is reasonable and the kit will fit mine, I'll have the kit off you amte.
