  1. Is that £220 for the Toyos a price for the tyres fitted and balanced? or just delivered? I'm picking up a set of Toyo T1Rs (205/50/15) this afternoon (which have a slightly harder compound on the edge of the tyre so they last longer). I'm getting them through a friend of a friend who I've invited to provide a VR6OC discount - I'll be posting details later this evening.
  2. That all makes good sense.... When are you going to go and look at it? (I've had a look in my local autotrader and Friday Ad, and there is no OBD2, 3 doors for under £2k)
  3. My advice would be: stick to the mission Pete! You're after a good shell with shagged running gear. This looks like a shagged shell with a nice interior. If it was nearby to you - it'd be worth a quick look. But if its a trek I'd give it a miss. Its got damage in at least 3 places (bumper, rear quarter, and sill). I'm no expert but this could have been enough damage for an insurance company to write the car off - but the owner decided not to claim (so it'd be HPI clear).
  4. Your new wheels look good. Are they 17s? Are they original Audi items, or copies? Where did you get them from?
  5. I've heard that though 17s look fantastic, 16s give a better ride (and the tyres are normally a little cheaper too). I don't have first hand experience as I'm still running the original 15s.
  6. Pete, which breakdown company are you with? Did they recover your car back to the UK without any issues? I read the ring report and it sounds like you had to pay a charge to get the car recovered from the Ring - but sounds like your breakdown company brought it back to the UK without you having to make any additional payments - is that right? Currently I don't have any breakdown cover - so makes sense for me to get some with a company that doesn't exclude recovery from the Nurburgring area (as I've heard some do). By the way - found some footage of the F1 at Nurburgring (my first attempt at
  7. Brakes have had time to bed in now and I'm happy with the results. They definitely feel better than the previous, standard, setup - and were the cheapest 'upgrade' available, i.e. front Zimmerman drilled discs and EBC Greenstuff pads were about £130 from German and Swedish (without the 10% discount as I ordered about a week before the club discount was announced!!)
  8. I think the Green one looks like it could be a good buy if you're really only after a donor shell AND assuming you've got the know-how / time to swap bits over with your donor car. Have you had a reply from your text to the seller?
  9. Thanks for the advice people. In the end I've ordered Zimmerman Drilled discs and EBC Greenstuff pads for the front, and standard discs with standard Pagid pads for the rear (and new rear wheel bearings) all from German and Swedish. I went for this kit because of the recommendations and should give me increased braking performance over standard and was the cheapest I could find. That said - there was some cheaper kit on ebay, but didn't want to take any risks on quality because brakes are pretty important!!! I'm getting it all fitted next week - will let you know what I think of it all. FYI
  10. Wish I was joining you. I'm going at the end of May though - so not too long to wait!
  11. I've just had the VR6 serviced and the advice was that the discs and pads were two-thirds worn all round. I'm going to the Nurburgring next month and hope to do another track day in the UK too so I thought I'd use this opportunity to upgrade the brakes at the same time. I need the brakes to still work well on the road too because most of the miles it covers are road miles. Has anyone got experience of upgrading and able to make any recommendations? I haven't got a huge budget so I'm looking for a balance between upgrade over standard, and cost. German & Swedish do 'Performance' drilled di
