  1. Some bloke in OZ is selling these turbo conrods. Thought I'd add it to your discussion http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/H-Beam-Conrods-VW-VR6-Turbo_W0QQitemZ280039421958QQihZ018QQcategoryZ72205QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
  2. There is this one on ebay http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Genuine-VW-VR6-Hazet-T10029-Metal-Ignition-HT-Lead-Tool_W0QQitemZ140043495352QQihZ004QQcategoryZ30917QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
  3. is it not in the premium member sticky m8??? there is one there for black magic pearl. Is that the same???
  4. Just to add to the debate and not an answer in any way. I've had mine 3 years and the oil has never moved just hit 60.5k miles. I would expect there to be a little more usage on higher milage cars as those parts wear a little and tolerances become impacted etc. (which can, of course, be further affected by the life the engine has had. We all know sat on a motorway is better than a life of 3 mile sprints on a cold engine). A VW mechanic m8 of mine once told me (a long time ago - so just take this as folk law) that the 4 cylinder engines/golfs were renouned for using some oil at around the 90k
  5. Great work so far. On a personal level I would appreciate it if you could put some pics up of the grinding/removal process for the bolt as I have to do it and It would help to see before I find the bottle to have a go. Cheers
  6. yes they do come in doubles but are hard to find. they are sold as a dimension so thats the thing to look for. Have fun
  7. Nope You used the words yourself. Decent heavy Duty leads. If you're not sure they're good enough then use two sets as they share the current and that should help. Having had a friend who was stuck on the M11 the other year Ovenight in the snow could I suggest one of those little fold away foil blankets and some energy bars (they last for ever) in your kit. May sound a little extreme but one of the best £2s you'll ever spend. Nice to see somone doing a kit. Were you a cub scout???
  8. Easy to do just a pain in the a**e job because of the number of bolts / parts needed to be taken off to get to it. Wish you luck. I think there is a link on here somwhere talking about how to do it
  9. Similar m8 use something metalic and act like a doctor and his steth at thingy scope - and listen to the chains. 2000-2500rpm tends to sound worst. If you can hear it there you know what it is
  10. The colour of shocks and springs is the give away here. let us know and we may be able to point you in the right direction. Also where the ajustment is
  11. There have been a couple of people on here who have had a grumpy mechanic on their hands when they have had too do it, otherwise It seems one of those real pain jobs hence the need for a "stiff drink" as it were before you have a go. If you are going to use extractors get a good set as if you're doing this you will always end up doing another one at some point. It may be worth popping down to your mechanic and asking their opinion as they are always a good source of info and dependant on what they'll charge - it may keep your knuckles in tact. Dont be affraid to let them have a look at whats
  12. Nope I'd do this as a minimum http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Volkswagen-Golf-1-8T-Anniversary-52-reg-41k-R32-V6-VR6_W0QQitemZ140042326179QQihZ004QQcategoryZ9873QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
  13. I do have another one for you guys.... One from my own experience. Ok so External to the car and underneath. You need to lay flat and look at the bottom of the car. you are looking just behind the drivers seat location and looking for the fuel filter. They are normally never replaced. However, if the car has had some stuff done or is a higher milage, been grounded etc. they can be or may have been changed. During this change process the special little clips either side can break or fail with age. This then means they can leak a little So when you find the cylinder just rub your fingers ov
  14. Welcome & Looking Good I've got a red on too. Best colour I think Like the guys said looks lower and has twin DTM back box at least. whats next and whats already under the old engine cover??? Take the grill badge off & leave the badges on the rest of the car - then people only know what you are as you sail past them.
  15. Chances are bolt has seen it m8, though I cannot remeber off the top of my head what size it is. There is always the old wheel theif fav and one of those sockets with the lots of little things in it like you used to put your face imprint in when you were a kid. It is Not an uncommon issue. If you have killed it - To remove you get to have fun in a confinded space with an angle grinder and a screw/thread remover. A garage will charge you about 2-3hours labour for it and the new bolts cost £1 each from VW. I have this problem on my rears and am building the courage to have a go mysef....
  16. Following with interest. keep going and good luck. Is there a reason for the grind marks on the manifold ??
  17. Other than the things mentioned. When changing a gear and you get a pop it can be due to a slight misfire/timing slightly off. So It's worth getting that checked out also. (Cost Aston Martin the Win at Le Mans - One where they ran out of fuel- 2005 I think - as it uses more fuel.......) Is your fuel consumption slightly worse?? Hope these all help
  18. TBH You seem to have the major points covered in this thread. The only other parts to look at are Engine/gearbox mounts especially if you are looking at sports manifold in the future (stops the mani cracking due to engine movement) you'll need performance mounts. The only other aspect is to clean the engine and bay replace pipes for nice new clean and shiny ones and then love it/him/her hug it/him/her tuck it/him/her in every night & enjoy the new car Good luck
  19. Thanks Ladies/gents Let me know how the H7 fit and if they improve visibility/looks etc...
  20. there is a link on here where somone is in process of fitting air con. You will be suprised at the amount opf work involved
  21. It does seem like you have a similar set up to what I am trying to achieve and thanks for the advice so far I hope you dont mind me asking you a couple of dumb questions! Where did you get your clear indicator bulbs from?? Also what bulbs are you using in the celis headlights??? H1s or H7s and are you using Xenon/white light look??? Did you have to upgrade anything?? Finally did you upgrade your side repeaters also?? Please feel free to PM me if you'd prefer. Thanks Rod
  22. I have had a variety of exhausts on a varirty of cars over the years (makes me sound old) and the best exhausts I've had - have been custom made. For example I put a exhaust on My '69 BGT and It is still on and still working and it has Never rusted leaked etc etc (almost 20 years). My Bro had a custom one made for his Golf GTi in a place in Glasgow and it is still working rust fee some 6 years later. They use the right grade stainless like .306 (as a minimum). You will also get a lifetime guarentee with it. My MG one was cheaper than a quick fit and my bros was the same as a Off the rack p
  23. Ok so I have done a search and read some of the links on crystal types like this example:- http://www.vr6oc.com/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?126932.post There was no real conclusions on any of them. Hella/FK or Joe smith variety. So some comments on what is/are the ultimate crystal/clear sets would be appreciated?? Also I have seen these on ebay http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VW-GOLF-3-III-MK3-CRYSTAL-CLEAR-INDICATOR-FOG-LIGHT-GTi_W0QQitemZ230036376753QQihZ013QQcategoryZ28645QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/GOLF-MK3-ULTRA-CRYSTAL-CLEAR-FOG-LIGHTS-INDICATOR-LENS_W0
