Warren and I are coming in our mk2 16v track car. The engine is sat on a stand and the head is off being refurbished at the moment. It should be ready for the first event of the season on 1st march. It should be cheaper than last year! Cheers, Andy

I have booked the ferry with everyone else. We may just stay in Daun as wherever we stay will be too far to walk. Either way, we will be there for a beer. Cheers, Andy

Not having a go mate....just last year of all those that went it was southerners that stayed in hotels. well south of Luton as some from suffolk area camped and then you all went home 'cos you got snowed on!! Exactly. Toys, prams and us hotel types had a superb weekend with sun and a dry(ing) track. So who else is staying in the hotel? I've not booked the hotel yet and don't know whether to go back to the usual place or stay in Nuerburg or Adenau. If Warren and I are on our own, we might stay closer to the 'Ring so we can socialise. No chance I'm camping though as there's nowhere to put

Warren and I will be there. For the first time ever, I'll be driving there in a Golf, too! The Mk2 is currently without gearbox and will soon be without engine. The engine should be rebuilt within 6 weeks for the start of the AutoSolo season and it'll be good to go at Easter! As for that Porker going the wrong way, I'm surprised they allow it, given the way the Armco is setup. Cheers, Andy

We always use PMR446 radios. They're the best you can get without a license. I'll be bringing mine with me but as I only ever get back one less than I lend out, I've only got two left now! Note that channels 1 & 2 are illegal in France, so we need to keep to the other channels. Also, some radios don't support sub-channels, so keep to the primary channels. Oh, and about the link, yeah those are fine. I prefer Motorola but Cobra will work just fine. A few people had that model last year. Cheers, Andy

You need to book ASAP as they've just sent out emails to all customers to say they;ve gone bust. There will be a flurry of activity on the rivals' websites. I'm booking now ... I'd not realised there was another thread with the details on about which ferry to book :-/ Cheers, Andy

What ferry is everyone going on? I dunno whether to book P&O, Norfolk (en Goode?) Line or the tunnel. Cheers, Andy

Depends what your bringing? lol a 1972 Trabant fastback in hearing aid beige. Upgraded the car again? You know I've already put your name down for the Golf, right? Talking of which, we need to get those injectors in there, otherwise I can predict the reading that rolling road will give ... 0bhp! If you bring the M3, I'll drive the Golf, otherwise, either I can pick you up in the Golf or you can drive it and I'll bring the Graham Norton. Cheers, Andy

All booked up. 08:00 out on the Friday, 18:45 coming back on the Monday and this year, I'll be bringing my own Golf! Cheers, Andy

Sadly' date=' that's not right at all. It's about 3.5 hours from Amsterdam to the 'Ring. Don't worry about not knowing anyone though. My first trip with the VR6OC was when I knew nobody. I jumped in the passenger seat with someone I'd never met (thanks, Aswad!) and had a great time! They're a friendly bunch here, as is pretty much everyone else at the 'Ring. Cheers, Andy

I spent £800 on everything last year. That included fuel, ferry, hotel, a dozen laps and renting a Golf GTi from rent-racecar.de. If you share a room, it'll be cheaper and camping cheaper still. Cheers, Andy

They do have a noise limit these days of 95dB although it's not rigidly enforced. Don't drive like a twat and have a car that looks like it's not been saved from the scrapheap or dangerously modified and you'll be fine. Cheers, Andy
-
Yup, anything road legal goes but don't take the piss with no silencers or anything that looks dangerous (including the driver) as they'll find a way to ban you. Luckily, they banned buses this year in safety grounds so you won't come over a blind crest at 240kph and find one on the racing line! They created a stir for the spectators though, which was fun. Cheers, Andy

I wouldn't worry overly. That's more of a race/pissup than just a group of VR6 owners going on holiday together, which is what we do. We don't go nuts. A couple of years ago, we did do silly speeds en-route but we've driven at sensible speeds the last couple of journeys. I think this year will be no exception. I think the German police have better things to do than impound a bunch of VR6s on a jolly. We're hardly the Cannonball Run! Keep your high speed moments to the derestricted autobahns (although we don't go down any) and the 'Ring, although try to keep it on the black stuff, eh? I

I think you're right. I only own half of it with Warren though, so will talk to him about it. He's coming over in an hour or so to get it ready for the competition debut next week. I just finished putting the interior back in. Yes, you read that right. When preparing a car for competition, make sure you read every word of the regulations for both events and championships. Bloody irregularities! Cheers, Andy (in the garage)

Tyres last forever. There's naff all grip in the dry, more slippery than ice in the wet and I couldn't even get out of the car park in the snow! Cheers, Andy

I got overtaken twice this year. Once by a Corvette GT car type thing and once by an Audi A3 I spent a lap dicing with. You can put me down for this one, either in the Mk2 or the Roadster, not sure which yet... Cheers, Andy
-
Put me down for a run. Car TBC. Either the 330d or whatever replaces it. Who knows, it may even be a VAG! Cheers, Andy

Whats with a random Centerparcs link amongst a Ring trip thread?! Or has my hastiness to question meant that i have missed something earlier on in the thread? *-) Easter for me as well i think.... 2nd time lucky! Going to be spunking all my money on making sure she is 100% mechanically fine this year so cant afford the summer trip. Center Parcs is only a few miles from the 'Ring. Good cheap accomodation. Cheers, Andy
-
Exactly. There was still a good amount of track time this year. There were no track closures for the whole weekend. It wasn't very busy either. All we needed was a few more people there for atmosphere. The spectators had to be a little too hardcore this year! Cheers, Andy

That was brilliant. Glad you got the Karussel on video! You can't beat though!Cheers' date=' Andy [/quote'] Nigel's face in that vid is classic !! My favourite bit is when he's pushing it back up the hill. Kicking it 6 feet, catching up, and kicking it again! Cheers, Andy
