Weitec GT coilovers
adam_christie replied to HAMMER_VR6's topic in Wheels, Brakes, Suspension and Steering
Hi all - Just had a look on the DT website and there are two options available - one for axle weights up to 890 Kg, and one for axle weights from 890 to 980 Kg..... Whassatallabout? (?) -
Reviving this thread as my car has been doing this recently! The indicators come on (all of them, no flashing) randomly. They seem to come on when the car's moving, and turn off a couple of seconds after coming to a standstill. Also this morning there was a weird clicking noise coming from under the footrest. What's underneath it?! I'm assuming it might be a CL relay or something as all the doors were locked when I got to work..... Any clues?! Cheers!

Hi all; I've got a set of polished BBS alloys (fresh back from Pureklas) and my local tyre fitter won't touch them for fear of damaging the lip. Does anyone know of a fitter/garage in the Walsall area that will fit tyres and pretty much guarantee not to damage the lip/surface of the alloys? Cheers in advance! Adam

My BBS's are round at Pureklas too. I met Dav in a Morrisons car park on Monday night. Must have looked dodgy! Lol!

Could be the belt that drives the second fan maybe needs replacing? Think back to your MK2 days and squealing alternator belts!

Rear engine mount - HELP REQUIRED
adam_christie replied to McPikie's topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
Are the rubber mounts better than the hydraulic ones then? DO they last longer etc? I take it the hydraulic element reduces vibration through the car but moves more than the rubber ones? -
Yeah, just need to try and congregate sometime! Maybe if it's only a Midland VR6 AGM or something!

I'm down the road in Bloxwich....

anyone running straight through exhaust
adam_christie replied to Tris's topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
Most performance exhausts are "un-baffled", they have resonance chambers to help eliminate the drone that they can produce. A company here in Walsall installed a 2.5" system on my VR a few years ago, and it was so loud I had it taken off and replaced with a Jetex system. They tried to fob me off by saying "It's loud because the boxes are straight through". The real reason is that they didn't engineer it properly and the system was acting like a trumpet. Basically, a system with no resonance chambers, like you want, can be relatively quiet. You just need to make sure the volume of air in your e -
Ignition live "gone"
adam_christie replied to adam_christie's topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
RIGHT, I've half solved the problem. Well actually I know what's at fault. It's the bloody ignition barrel! Seems there's a loose connection inside which has probably been made worse by me overloading the "key in live" circuit. Now all I need to do is figure out how to fix the problem. I guess I've probably molten one of the soldered connections. Great! <_ -
Ignition live "gone"
adam_christie replied to adam_christie's topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
I've just found out that the electrics that have been affected are the ignition position "0" electrics, i.e. the stereo. I think there must be something else running off this line that's causing the starting problems. -
Hi all; I've been trying to install an in car PC in my Golf VR6 today, and I've tapped into the "ignition live" wire that used to turn the headunit on to run power to the LCD screen. I've also used this line to power the PC which I think may have been a bad idea! I turned the system on, and the PC and screen booted up for a short time, then there was a total loss of power to both the pc and screen Now I have real problems starting up the car. The enging turns over, and tries to fire up, but then dies. After about 20 attempts it finally fires up, which I think is because it's warmed up a bit.

Where from Kev?

Could be possible mate. The jubilee clips are much tighter than cable ties, in fact the cable ties could be letting fuel out between the pump connection and the fuel hose! Put jubilee clips on immediately!

Really? I thought the oval suited the MK3 golf best? MK3's are pretty "ovular" aren't they.....? Not square like MK2's and MK1's. MK4's are rounder so a single or twin exit like the R32's ones suit them best I thought.

What's the name of this crazy cleaner mate? Might give mine a clean at the weekend!

You can do a spectacular amount to your car and still keep it street legal. There's a chap from Wolverhampton that has a street legal drag car, and it's one of the fastest in its class in the world!! 5 door cars weigh about 30 Kg more than a 3 door due to the pillars and rear door shells etc, so blanking off the rear doors might be an idea. MOT rules don't state that the windows need to be openable. Look at the Ferarri F40. It had little slide-back panels in its perspex windows in place of retractable ones. The tyres people are thinking of are Toyo-R888's. They are pretty good, however they're
