  1. Ok.....tried the open trick with the key and it works, however the close trick doesn't!!
  2. I take it you need a full closure alarm for the "all windows and sunroof open/closed" trick? Need to get me one of these!
  3. Well the engine bay's too small on a golf isn't it? Maybe that's the reason they plopped it into a Passat......
  4. Well I've had no honks recently, but my car's taking forever to start.......plus the fuel pump's still really noisy! Anyone else had this problem?? Need to get it sorted! :'(
  5. I'm having great fun with this car! :@ Still need to get my new fuel pump, (found one on ECP for £53 - Don't know if it's any good but it'll be new!) but now it's starting badly. Think the pressure regulator may have gone......reason I say is because when I turn off the engine I can hear a quiet honk from under the car, which I think is the diaphragm letting the fuel back through the fuel pump and into the tank......anyone else had this problem or could tell me if I'm right? Fank-u! (again! )
  6. Hmm, this may be the problem I'm suffering from too then.....(see "Buzzing - Fuel Pump Methinks!" thread) I'll swap the relay and see if it helps. My car's taking forever to start when hot too, any clues?
  7. Aha, ok. Whats classed as an early VR? Mine's from the beginning of January 1995....... May just sell the coilovers to save the hassle!
  8. Well, it's virtually in the boot floor.......Anyway, am I right in assuming that it's the only fuel pump in the car? Ta Ad
  9. Just had a quick mince on the Bay of E and noticed that someone was selling a set of coilovers, and there was a note saying "Fits VW Golf MK2, MK3 and Vento......this isn't right is it? If it is, I've got a set on my old Jetta that I might pop on my VR.......
  10. They're about £5 and you can get them from Euro Car Parts of German, French & Swedish. Welcome!
  11. Hello again! As you may have read, I've bought my first ever VR6, which had an oil problem (which is now sorted), a leaky radiator (which has been replaced, pics etc to come soon), and now seems to be running fine, however there's a real whiney buzz coming from the fuel tank/boot area. I know on a MK2 GTI there's an in-tank fuel pump which can make a pretty awful racket, but is there an in-tank fuel pump on the MK3 VR's aswel? I've had a quick look on Euro Car Parts and all I can find is an "Electrical fuel pump" priced at 113 quid!!! Any ideas? Cheers! Adam
  12. Yeah I got it for a reasonably low price, and I'm fairly confident that the oil problem isn't related the sunroof problem, or the leak in the radiator. He may have just had some bad luck with a stone or bird or something similar hitting the rad at speed. He's a farmer so I can imagine he may have driven the car on something a little more gritty than an A-road. The high pressure oil sensor, if it was an original part, could have gone any time, I'm not too bothered as to why it's gone, as long as it's a) now fixed and it doesn't fail again in the near future. Finally, the sunroof...I've never
  13. Okee-dokey..........my VR has just been delivered to me with no oil problems! The only problem is still the radiator leak. He drove it to me with the header tank cap slightly loose, so as to relieve any pressure build up in the system, however I know there's a reason for the pressure buildup, that being the pressure prevents the coolant from boiling, am I right? Got a sparkly new rad sitting here next to me which I'll be installing tomorrow, and judging by a previous thread I'll need either a) tiny elf-like hands to remove or to take off the front end including headlights. Either way, it shou
  14. Hmm, do you know what your fuel consumption is like yet? It really could be a number of things. Your MAF Might be knackered? What's the acceleration like? You getting 0-60 Mph in 7.9 secs like the manual says? (Lol, yeah I know thats a load of twaddle but anyway!)
  15. Jeez.....yeah, don't wanna rebuild it in all honesty really! I'm an enthusiast but I'm not that capable! I'll see what happens today, and I'll go have another look this weekend, if it's still the same then I think I'll have to walk. @57ORM: Was your oil alarm going off at all? Before your pump packed in?
  16. Yeah methinks I'm gonna get him to sort this problem out first. He took it to VW yesterday and they apparently said it was the high pressure oil sensor that may be at fault!
  17. Hiya, Just briefly posted about my soon to be bought MK3 Golf VR6 in the welcome section, and mentioned a problem that occured as soon as I was about to drive off from the previous owner's house..... Basically from standstill I accelerated fairly quickly, and the oil warning light and alarm started to sound....I'm fairly new to VR's, but know enought about the general mechanics of a car to kind of narrow the problem down to a few things. I'd guess at there being either a) a lack of oil in the engine causing the alarm to go off on acceleration due to the oil "sloshing" (technical term there!) t
