hmm still not solved! I replaced the pipe that goes from the MAF to the throttle body (as it needed replacing anyway) Also managed to clean in and around the throttle body and put it all back together. Checked the MAF and didnt seem to be dirty at all. Acceleration may be a little more responsive (not sure if thats just my mind telling me this!) but the car still bounces , but not all the time, also it still cuts out. When I was in 4th and dropped off the gas to change it cut out! That was a one off I think I dunno.. I think I need to get a VAGCOM check. I have noticed tho that when I start

Thanks Mike, I have been reading up and saw a few threads when peeps have been cleaning the throttle body they had a similar issue with the revs going up and down and had to get ecu checked with vag com. Would it be a good idea to disconnect battery if im playing? Any other thoughts would be great if Im taking stuff apart

Hi guys, Got a bit of a problem where the idle bounces up and down when sat stationary, then also when in second gear the car will drive itself and get at 2000rpm! (which was cool for around town, but worrying non the less) After it stops bouncing around and sort of settles to just under 1000rpm, if you come to a sudden stop or slow down quickly the engine cuts out, then have to turn her over to get running again. I have tried removing the negative lead from the battery as suggested and left it for over an hour and reconnected it but with no avail. I recently changed plugs, leads, coil pack,

ECU HELP!! petrol drowing sorrows....whimper
fatboyjon replied to fatboyjon's topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
thanks for the help guys, Apprently when the car is run and you take out plug five its covered in petrol and generally stinks. Also with the injector out it pisses petrol everywhere when it shouldnt be. When the smoke was coming out the back it really really stank of petrol. I cant believe this is happening to me again as I had this with my mk2 gti!!!! Will look at maybe getting it sent away if I replace and need a recode. :S Cheers any more ideas greatly appreciated -
Hello brothers and sisters, Well after 2 years of sucessfully rebuiling the front of my vr and recently taking her out for a blast, white smoke starts pumping out the back...whoop i heard myself cry. anyway skipping to the end of my sob story a good mate who is a chieftech at a local vw dealer diagnosed that the ecu is faulty, stuffing "more petrol into cylinder five than the kernal pumps delicious flavours into his chicken" i think thats technical speak. Anyway.....HELP!!!! Had a look on ebay but all the ecu's I can find are ABS ones and not main engine ECU's. Does anyone know if you can get

Hey All, Been a while for me being on here, taken a blimmin whole year and a bit to get my vr back on the road, and now she's looking dent free at last! Got a prob with one of my magnecor leads and want to buy a new set, I have read the posts and you guys say they are the nuts, but a hefty price tag. I can get some form GSF (approx £50 with my VR6 owners card - thank YOU for this bTW!!!!!!!) but has anyone had any issues with them? I saw briefly in a post that they were substandard and frowned apon. I know its 30 quid cheaper than the mag's, but its 30 quid more closer to getting the VIC te

Hello wonderful people, I got an Audi A80 while my VR is being repaired. Its got its MOT on thrusday and my door handle is broken drivers side from the inside, so when i wanna get out..yes you guessed it....i gotta roll the window down and open the door from the outside! I have played with mk2 opening mechanisms before so have a general idea on how to fix the issue but i cant get the BLOODY door trim off on this audi to save my life. I found 2 screws at top left and right ends of the trim, and then got angry and proceeded to break every trim clip...Im sorry I jusst got angry!! yee haaa cowboy
