  1. The temperature gauge gets its signal from the yellow sensor, not the blue one. The blue sensor sends the signal to the ECU.
  2. £6k? Pah, I raise you: http://www.zymol.co.uk/zymolsolaris.aspx This stuff is about $30,000 a pot....
  3. Duragloss 901 or Dodo BTBM are generally rated best value on detailingworld. Don't get confused by the terminology of polish/waxes. Polishes are an abrasive which take off a layer of paint to leave an unblemished/swirl-free layer of paint (e.g. Menzerna Intensive Polish) OR fillers which mask the defects by filling them in (e.g. Autoglym SRP). Waxes are the LSP (last step protection) which ultimately give the paintwork the gloss and protect it from the elements.
  4. The only stuff you'll ever need is GTechniq C4. Honestly, I've used it and you might as well throw everything else away. It's a totally different type of product than any of the other trim treatments as it chemically bonds to the plastic. Awesome stuff. See http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=103881
  5. You can change all the intervals etc. yourself. There's a guide on here somewhere but I can't be bothered to search for it.
  6. My Passat W8 front brakes are 334mm and the car sits on 17s with plenty of room. Beware though, the Mk4 R32 OEM discs are ££ but EBC or others do them for a lot less. The Passat W8 discs are OEM-only (no-one else makes them) and are £450 a pair :-#

  8. Sorry reverted to DW-speak there for a second :$
  9. In all honesty Pete I would get it done professionally. Reason one being even with the right products, unless you have practiced and/or are experienced in machine polishing, it'll be either so frustrating trying to get a decent finish that'll you'll lose the will, or you'll make a hash of it. Even more so if you're diving straight in with a rotary polisher and not a DA. Reason two being you could easily spend £150-200 on the most basic products most of which you'll use about once a year. Better off investing in a good professional detail and then follow a good wash regime to maintain the fin
  10. I just got 2x 195/45 R16 T1Rs from tyretraders yesterday. Brilliant service - next day delivery and cheap postage. Never used anyone else...
  11. I don't understand this post... *-)
  12. You could use the search button, this has been done to death at least once a month!
  13. You can get a full set of GMAX springs and shocks for about £225. Won't get much better value for money than that.
  14. Groundnut oil is another favourite, but like all oil based products, it will only last a few weeks. The GTechniq stuff is the only product that bonds to the plastic permanently rather than act as just a dressing.
  15. You need some GTechniq C4 Nothing else on the market comes close for durability. It lasts about 2 years!
  16. No just link the intake to the filter with some silicone hose and worm drive clamps. You will find the intake pipe from the wing will be impossible to fit onto the filter at the other end. I think there's a fitting guide in the Premium Member's section
  17. Here you go: VR6 Magazine Feature - Detailing World Remember you need the Mk3 Anniversay wheels which are 7" wide OR the6 the Mk4 GTI wheels which are 6.5" wide plus 5mm+ spacers on the front to clear the calipers. I have some of the Mk4 GTI ones for sale on ebay ATM. Check the ebay links forum
  18. Finest 2 grades of wire wool and a small amount of Autosol will shift most of the oxidisation, then go over with a MF and some more autosol and buff off. You can pick up good MFs @ £10 for 3 from cleanyourcar.com or anywhere else.
  19. I've got that to look forward to this week if the weather holds. Already done the inside' date=' seats out and all [/quote'] guess what.... Its filthy already! :@ cleaned it all saturday, sunday morning i went over it with a microfibre cloth (3pk for 80p at tesco...bargain!) and the cloth was black and filthy! from one flippin day. did the same this morning went over it and blackend another new cloth. Its unreal how dirty it gets in such a very short period of time, makes it seam like a waste of time spending a day cleaning it and it dirty a day later Once it's been detailed then a quick wa
