  1. Brilliant! So just run it in on Quantam silver for say 500 miles or so, then change oil and go and get it mapped? My engine is fitted with ARP head studs too. Will these need re-torqing after a while? Many thanks! Ash
  2. I'm just finishing the build up of my new engine which is low compression and nee some advice on the best way to run it in. It's standard bore size with weisco 8.5 to 1 pistons and ARP bolts etc. I've also got a stage 2 VF9 charger to go with it which includes injectors and a previously mapped ecu when it was fitted to another car. Can I fit the charger straight to the fresh engine and run it in with the charger bolted on? I suppose if I ran it in very carefully for 500 miles then have it mapped it would be ok wouldn't it? Or not?? Also, would it be best to run it in on proper running in oil
  3. Just what I'm after! Can you PM Me payment details? Bank transfer or Paypal are fine for Me
  4. Is your pump new mate? How much do you want for it?
  5. I'm in the process of building my new engine up and for safe measures I'll be replacing the oil pump. The engine will be supecharged too. Is it best to fit a genuine VW pump or are aftermarket ones as good? I can get a pump made by BGA for £45 plus vat, or a genuine pump is £110 plus vat and an extra £13 for the pipe so a bit of price difference! I'm guessing the reply will be go genuine but thought I'd ask opinions anyway.
  6. I've removed My old VR Dizzy engine from My MK2 VR and am replacing it with a coilpack engine. My question is, what do I need to do this wiring wise etc? Do I need to replace the whole loom or just part of it? Will I need a coilpack ecu too and are the obd1 coilpack ecu's immobilised? Also, what about the maf? Will this need to be changed too? And can I keep My polished 2.9 inlet mani and throttle body as this is obd1? Will I need any other sensors other than the cam sensor as I dn't have one of these? My new engine is just a bare engine and head so would like to use as much as I can off My ol

  8. Just wondering if the above would be suitable for a 2.8VR6 or would it be too small?? If any good, what sort of power would it make? Many thanks, Ash
  9. craggsy, how much? And how about My offer on the Rotrex?
  10. Yeah, I've seen that cheers mate, but I think I'd rather have a steel sump, at least they don't shatter to bits!
  11. Wrap some insulating tape around where the lead is arking out as a temporary fix so you can carry on using it!
  12. Evening all! Before I fit My freshly built forged engine, I'm going to be fitting a new oil pump just to be sure! Is it best to fit a genuine VW pump or does anybody else do an aftermarket one? If so, are they any good, where to get one and how much are they? I'd have thought a genuine one would be better but thought I'd ask you experianced lot what you reckon! Oh, and once it's run in it'll be charged too. Thanks in advance, Ash
  13. Been with flux for over 4 years, all mods declared £247 comp. But I am 31 with full NCD!
  14. Cheers for the advice! Think I'm prob going to go for it. Just wasn't sure how it would perform being low compression. I'm not sure what ratio it is, but He has the invoice for the pistons so I guess I could find out somehow! How much power can the standard rods take then? Also id going supercharged, would My 268 cams be any good? Cheers again, Ash *EDIT* I've been told it's 8.5-1 comp ratio
  15. Is this a good buy? I've been after a rebuilt VR6 engine for a while now, and have just been offered a fully rebuilt, zero miles engine. It's a low compression 2.8, with forged wossner pistons, standard rods, new bearings, new chains and tensioners etc, head hasket, rebuilt head with guides and valve stem oil seals, ARP head studs, etc etc. It was built to run boost from a charger. How would this run normally aspirated? would it be underpowered being low compression? Was thinking of biting the bullet and buying it as I've been offered a Z engineering stage 2 charger kit at a good price. The en
  16. Evening all! Just a quick question. My Mk2 currently has a dead ABV OBD1 dizzy engine. I'm struggling to find a replacement ABV lump, all I can find is AAA engines, OBD1 and 2 coilpack jobbies. Is it just a straight swop with all my electrics etc to get it to run? I know that I'll have to swop the dizzy drive and upper timing cover to run the dizzy again. Or am I better off binning the dizzy altogether and running OBD2 or 1 coilpack and rewiring it to suit? Bit confused as to whats the betted option. I'll be fitting My 268 cams anyway so it's no hassle to fit the dizzy drive while I'm there if
