Hi boundsw, I have to say that that site looks pretty dodgy to me. I think they are based in the States, so you'd have potentail problems if you had to try and send stuff back if it was not right. Secondly, american kit has just got alot more expensive because of the exchange rate drop. My advice: go turbo, not supercharged. I've just taken my supercharger off and am having a turbo kit fitted. The torque and delivery of a turbo is better. I really liked my 'charger but the turbo will be a monster. Save up and buy the best turbo bits you can. Do it in stages when you can afford it. Do

Yes it will absolutely, but it all depends on the size of the pulley that it comes with. The smaller the pulley, the faster the turbine will spin at any given rpm, and thus the more boost it will make. More boost eqauls more power. A V1 should be good for 290-300 bhp at about 8psi (0,5 bar), which is realtivley safe on a standard engine. Just be aware that you can't just strap a 'charger to an engine and expect endless power without it adding extra strain on the rest of the engine. If your engine is tired, I'd at least do the chains and tensionaers before adding boost. Else, you'll be he

What amout of hp and torque from different stage superchargers??
chazrad replied to alex1985blue's topic in Engine Tuning
No mate. The charger is the same. Like on a G60, to increase power, you change the pulley over for a smaller one. So each stage 1, 2 and 3 has a progressivley smaller pulley. That makes the charger spin faster, so you get more air forced in. When you adjust the fuleiing to match, you get more power. Cams will help get even more power. A decat is pretty essential really too. -
Standard compression (ie no spacer gasket) with Vortech V9F stage 2 kit (8 psi). Good for a reliable 280bhp. I'd fit a spacer if I ever decided to go to stage 3 (12 psi) and a chargecooler or at least intercooler.

You don't say whether yours is an earlier or later VR6. I think I'm right in saying that the earlier (OBD1) Golfs (and Corrados) had 280mm discs and calipers. The later OBD2 Golfs and Passats had a 288mm setup. The latter are a great mod and a big improvement if you only have the earlier car. You can pick up a set of 288mm calipers and carriers quite cheaply, get them refurbed if necessary and they are brilliant. Obviously, they'll fit under 15in wheels if you're still running standard alloys. If tou already have 288s and you want to go one better, then look at the 312mm conversion from

..One of THE best men in the country to look after your pride and joy. People will travel the length of the land to get their car to his workshop. I wish I lived as close as you did!!

Once you bore out to 3.0 or 3.1 L, you should apparently not be going force induced, because as said the walls of the cylinders get pretty thin. If you are after the biggest NA engine you can, then fine. If you are planning to go 'charger or turbo, then stick with a general rebore to 2.9L.

Good piccies, folks. Good to meet a nice bunch of people today. A good meet made into a much better one by the drive out to Cheddar Gorge too. Nice idea, Claire and Dave. I had a brilliant drive home too. Didn't use the motorway or A303...stuck to the A and B roads all the way back to Tidworth...Just epic!! Hope to meet you all again soon. Charlie

I'd phone Vince at Stealth for starters, and ask him what he thinks re power, costs, work required, etc.

Up to you matey, but the advantage of a a diff is well known. It'll really help the car launch out of the corner and get all the power down without worrying about it spinning away. Also, you can get on the power earlier, as rather than understeering, the diff actually makes the car pull towards the apex. A mate has a Quaife on his VR6 Corrado which he takes on track occasionally. He reckons that apart from his Brembo setup, the Quaife (diff) has made him seconds per lap quicker. I suppose it comes down to where you drive your cars the hardest: on the road or on track. Stick it on the t

Some of you will have seen that red Vento VR6 running throttle bodies, that had coverage ina VW magazine last year. It was also at E38. There are a couple of clips of it, albeit short ones, on YouTube, and it sounds fantastic. A great mod if you want to stay NA...Also there don't seem to be many VRs out there running them, so its a bit different too.

If I were you buddy, I'd contact Raj at NS Racing. They're based in Edgware in London, but they'd be your best bet. Look the them up on the interweb for contact details. Failing that, try Regal Autosport in Southampton. Both companies supply and fit Vortech kit. HTH. Charlie

SCHRICK VSR INLET MANIFOLD &CAT 256 CAM FOR VR6?
chazrad replied to faigolfgti's topic in Engine Tuning
Pal, I agree with Clarkie. I run 268s with my VW Motorsport manifold, and it is the combination that I was advised by all those in the know...Vince at Stealth and the guy in the States who supplied my cams. They complement each other well, as the manifold produces more torque low down, then hands over to the cams at around 4000rpm which produce more bhp at the top end. HTH -
Mate, I have not owned a VR6 Golf (although have owned a Golf), and wouldn't want to say much against them, as most of the guys on here have got them. But just bear in mind a couple of things: 1. Corrado VR6 - 2.9L 190 bhp as standard. Golf VR6 - 2.8L 174 bhp as standard. (factory figures) 2. Evo magazine, and others have described the Corrado VR6 as one of the greatest front wheel drive cars of all time. Top Gear have rated it in their Greatest 100 cars of all time (at 67th IIRC). I love my Corrado. The handling is epic...ok so I've done a few mods, but so have many people. Th

Millsy, What 7-rib belt do you suggest using with a VF 'charger on a non-a/c engine, if you are saying the one with the kit is not up to it? Eat this..Sorry, I do not mean to hijack your thread.

Eibach springs on stock shox
chazrad replied to Frazer's topic in Wheels, Brakes, Suspension and Steering
Glad you are happy with your modestly priced upgrade. On my Corrado, I have the Koni shock and Eibach spring combo, which I find works ok (although looking to upgrade to coilovers at the mo'). You will find that the anti-roll bar upgrade is the single biggest improvement you can do, though. I did these (Eibach ARBs) even before changing from stock suspension, and the difference was amazing. Much flater through corners, yet the suspension remained quiet and supple. Defo' recommend the ARB upgrade. -
Eat this, where did you get your extra pulley from? I have yet to fit my 'charger, but want to avoid any slippage from the start if I can.
-
Mate, On the Corrado Forum, I'm sure I have seen a how-to guide on this. Can't remember just now who did it but its pretty comprehensive - tells you just what you need etc. Check it out.

I was looking at Mocal. Vince will fit it all for me )- not good enough at this kind of thing) and he think he sells them. He will recommend either a 13 or 15 row. Not sure on price...£150? plus pipework. Still unsure about whether to fit an SP short intake runner as well!?
-
RCF, I spoke to Vince on Friday, and happened to mention Aquamist kits for when he fits my 'charger. He told me he sells this same kit for just over £300. Now bear in mind the postage. If you are going to fit it yourself, then this is aeBay price is a good deal. I shall get mine from Vince.

In terms of cost, I had a rebuild at Stealth in Oct/Nov of last year, and it cost the thick end of £3,500 with VAT incl. Not cheap, but a job well done. That did incl a slight rebore. I don't know about the obd1 and 2 differences but I cannot imagine it makes that much difference. I had 268 cams and a VW VGI manifold fitted at the same time as the rebuild. That has given me more power and torque, and will make more difference than worrying about 1 or 2, I would think.

RCF, thanks for this. Very informative. I did not know about poss damage to cat as a result of supercharging. My Stg 2 'charger should be arriving shortly (off the back of the GB on here!! Aquamist and an oil cooler will go on as well. Definitely worth it to ensure longevity.
