North Wales is ridden with invizzy-bizzymobiles. They hang around on the a5 alot. And of course the motor-mecca that is the horseshoe pass. (Ponderossa does great food)

I have a Jetex on my VR, really nice noise but not too loud. I had a Scorpion straight thru before that, it was MEGA loud and really annoying, but the car was quicker with it on.

6 branch and other stuff fitted !
magic_tree replied to vr6binks's topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
Yes, your right, There is an adaptor piece. I bought my raceland 6 branch from a mote and it came with it. I expect it does if you by a brand new one as well. -

The 6 branch really sounds good, but doesn't make it louder, which is good in my book.. Mine is heat wrapped so its a really warm note, if you know what I mean. Really sings on full belt. Still got the standard cat in, considering a sports cat, but would not decat it. The mods have given it more top end grunt as expected, but also feels more torquey from about 3000 revs, so not going to mess too much now. I think a decat might loose some of that mid range pull. -

Update on this. Raddo inlet manifold, raddo throttle body, 6 branch manifold and vibratech front engine mount all now on. Big difference, 3rd gear is awesome!! Mount is great, not to rough like some reports, cornering improved big time and ripido off the mark. All in all definitely worthwhile mods, I am glad I collected the bargains as they become available. New tyres and poly exhaust mounts (Jetex too heavy for standards) tomorrow, then cams and remap next!! Hopefully in time for Inters. -

I am just about to go down the 6 branch, raddo inlet and tb road. When you talking about solid front engine mounts, is it literally solid? I was planning on a Vibratech front mount? Would this help battle twisting at the 6 branch joints? -
where is best place in midlands for remap
magic_tree replied to garrett281083's topic in Engine Tuning
From reading around on here, Turbo will give you the biggest power gain, followed by charger. You talking proper money though. I think if you plan to turbo yours, it is wise to strengthen the engine as much as poss first, extra cost. I guess the same goes for charging it, but the power gains are less, so might not be as necessary. One thing I noticed watching the various VR's on the strip at GTI International was that the turbo'd ones seemed to have way more power than traction, Masses of wheel spin at lift off. Personally I am planning a charger to arounbd 289bhp ish. I think that might be q -

magic_tree replied to garrett281083's topic in Engine Tuning
yes, your right, but a remap does help. My old VR was standard apart from a filter but had a remap from AmD and it was noticbly quicker than standard ones I drove. I am going doen the cams, inlet mani and throttle body route before I get a remap on my current VR, -

I have heard Stealth is good, they are not far from Cov. I am planning on taking mine there for a remap, I live in North Wales. -
Cool, going to check that out. Are Neuspeed ok? Was thinking about the Dougherty ones but 168 pounds good!

Hi Mate. I have a 2.9 throttle boddy and manifold to go on mine in the next couple of weeks, I will let you know if it makes any odds. I have a bored out and polished obd throttle body on a standard manifold and the moment and that opened up the top of the rev range a bit.

I'm in, can probably rustle up a couple of other 6 pot lovers from this neck of the woods too.

Another oil question.....Carlube?
magic_tree replied to twoscoops's topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
I was wondering this too. GFS told me it is the replacement for Fuchs. I am flushing my engine and putting in new oil, so will give it a try. Unless anyone adivises against it? I was toying with the idea of some fancy oil, but I already have 6l of Ca\rlube, so seems daft not to use. -
Went to the european drag fnals at the Pod a few years back and had never seen top fuel Couldn't believe what I was seeing and hearing..............I want one! I think the fastest run wa about 4.7 ish. The make the Jet cars look like mini metro's.

toyo T1-r's or yoko parada spec 2's?
magic_tree replied to ben_notts's topic in Wheels, Brakes, Suspension and Steering
I can only comment on the Toyo's. Didn't like them on the VR. Went throught them in no time and felt shimmery on corners. The Avo Z3 (I think thats the model) on before were awsome. Falkens on now, they are good. Got Toyo's on my Caddy and they are fine on that but it is only about 120 bhp and not much torque. -
Raddo throttle body, tandard manifold ported and polished.

Hi, Anyone know where I can get a corrado throttle body and standard manifold ported and polished to match? Either in North Wales or the north west. Also, any feedback on whether this is a good idea would interesting. Should help a bit shouldn't oit, remap will be done when done. Starting on the road to little tweaks and tuning, but doing it bit by bit due to funds going into MK1 at the moment. Thanks.

Do you think it's fast?
-
mine was one box only, so thats prob why it was so loud. Seems like they are not to bad with more than the back box.
-
Do you mean the box before the the back box that lies across the front of the fuel tank? That one is a normal oval type box. I asked Jetex if they made a straight through pipe to replce that over the back axle and the guy was a bit arsey! From what I have read the Miltek is the one that most VR guys go for. Very expensive though. To be honest, the VR I had before this one was remapped, but only on K&N, everything else standard. The exhaust was standard when I got it and it was very fast, way quicker than my new one. I had a nightmare with the cat and ended up having to have a Kwikfit cat a

Hi. I just bought a VR that had a Scorpion straight through exhauset on. I am not sure if the baffles had gone in the back box, but it was stupidly loud. It resonated very very loudly at about 2500 revs. At 80 pmh it really droned. It sounded really good on tick over. I took it off and put a Jetex 2 box system on. It is much more sensible noise wise. Really quiet but sings at full tilt. I did loose a bit of pull at high revs with the Jetex, but did gain a bit of mid range torque. Cut a long story short, the Sorpion was so loud I just had to spend 350 quid I hadn't planned on to get it replaced
