Forgot, she not ugly but she aint as georgeous as she thinks she is. Bet she is rampant though. Channelle is far better looking, but a bit whingey. VR6's are good as well aren't they LOL

She was bonkers! I know what you mean, she can't understand why people dont like her, then admits she likes to purposely wind people up. Very unstable.

Enjoyed that! Hi Lux's are mint. I think they are one of those cars in the "have and cane before I die" list.

The best freestyle skateboarding you will EVER see !

Easy! I can do all that....on Tony Hawk Underground. -
Good to hear you got a VR. My drivers door has dropped slightly. It jst lifts about 5mm when clodsed. I think this may be common, especially on 3 doors. The same happens with MK1's. I would check if it is just drooping a bit, or is it acually bent or pushed in/out slightly.

8 out of 20. Ashamed, been into VW for ages as well. Never mind, just go and nail your VR to make yourselves feel better.

Engine start up and running problem....?
magic_tree replied to spanner junkie's topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
Just a quick question, what does your Beru coil pack look like? I got a coil pack yesterday for 93 quid. It is black and for Ford/Merc! I was assured it was the one I needed. It works fine, lots more power, but I was wondering who made it and whether it was a Beru on. -
I went to motor world the other week to get an oil drain can. It is only 3 miles from my house. I very rarely go in there for the same reasons as the above posts. However, on this occaision, the guy behind the desk saw me pull up and we had a great chat VR's and reminised about MK1 GTI's. He has been into them them but had to buy a cheap car when his kids came a long. It's ok for little bits and bobs and tools required quick as it is just down the road, would never buy parts or serious stuff there. Maybe a cheap stereo or something!

Good question. I am single at the mo, but I wish I had my VR when I was with my last girlfiend, she was well boring and annoying but I had a Red 1.6s Cavalier most of the time I was with her so she seemed ok after a drive in that!

Cool, they did quite a few didn't they! I will probably see it again as it was just in Mold, about 5 miles from my house. Might try and ask if I can, just out of interest. Sectretly have a soft spot for Astras, ex missis had a mk2 16v GTE, handled crap and had no traction but was fast in straight lines in the dry! My VR was dyno'd at 185 at the fly, 169 at the wheels about a month ago. Quite a lot down on the dyno from when it had its remap, which was 196 at the fly. Mind you that was four years ago! Pay day next Friday, coil pack and new leads in order. Thanks for the info by the way, always

Glad you got hold of some. Just on the same note, is there anyone had the Fuchs stuff yet? Anygood? What are we all going to use when the Quantum runs out!
-
Guess I'll never know. I think there is a 3.0 vr by vaux as well. Maybe it was one of them. Think mine is ok, pretty standard apart from a remap. Could do with a new coilpack after looking at it today.
-
Just to let you know, I think VW might be stopping Quantum. At least I know GSF are. The replacement is Fuchs which is cheaper and apparently the same stuff more os less. I went to GSF nr Trafford park about three weeks to get some and they said they only had about 200 5l bottles left.

Today I cleaned my hall sensor, as per the very good guide on this site. It was not mega oily, just stained with light brown coating. I was surprised when I put it back together after cleaning and went for a spin. Low down torque is definately better, and pulls earlier too. Although, I did come accross a black astra with V6 badge on the back and thought I had to find out if it was a V6 under the bonnet! It was!! Even with my regained torque he was just pulling away slowly, but only just. Ran out of road, Oh well. Maybe it was a 2.5 out of the Vectra, it had a huge exhaust.

Ta. I think it did. Will check again tomorrow. It would make sense, it sounded like a pump now I think about it. Is it supposed to run constantly?

Been fiddling today. I was going to clean my hall sender and ISV but I didnt have any hex bolts for the plastic cover. One of them was too tight to use an allan key so left it until I get some tomorrow. Anyway, As I had the battery disconnected for about half an hour (it rained for a bit and I shut the bonnet and went in) I thought I would try resetting the ECU. I switched all electrics of then connected the battery. Then I disarmed the immobilizer and swithed on the ignition. I left it for 27 mins in total, but all the time there was a noise from a vertical cylinder (Bosch) behind the coil pa

Thanks matt, I think I will ring AMD, who did the map. Not sure if it was a new chip or the standard one flashed. Just not sure how to reset the ecu properly. Will let you know what I find out.

I know I have already posted with questions about my re mapped ecu and disconnecting the battery. I have also read some of the posts about re setting the euc but just want to check a couple of thigs before I try something. My golf is obd1, although it does have a coil pack: How exactly do I reset the ecu? Is it disconnect the battery and then turn the ignition on before re connecting? I know the re map is not effected by disconnection of the battery, but not sure if it is effected by an ecu reset? The battery has been off a couple of times, and also a new one was put on as well. Been a little

I only got into VR's from GTI's really. Had a few GTI's and still the proud owner of my MK1 GTI. I have only been into VR's for a few months but have not encountered any snobbery. A few mates still have various GTI's, 16v and cabs etc. We are all on big happy family! The VR's just the fastest, thats all! (joking)

I think it's true what they say....the golf vr6 is the mk1 gti for grown ups. OK, you need to get the handling sorted, get used to it stopping when you press the brake pedal, and get used to seeing where you are going, but it's the same buzz. It follows, alot of people into GTI's, mk1 and mk2 were great, the mk3 gti was crap, so VR6 time! Is the popularity of the Golf version a follow on from earlier GTI's?

I was on a budget and bought some supersport ones for 340 inc VAT. They are ok but compared to the Avo ones I took off there is a noticable difference, ie they are not as good as the Avo's. If you have 500 I reckon you should be ok. I would spend as much as you can really. I wish I had waited until I had more to spend.

Did an oil change today, ready for the Awesome rolling road day tomorrow. Drained the old oil, then noticed a few (5 or 6) bits in it, they were left on the draining container. At first I though it was just some crap, and a couple of bits were. But some appeared to be metal. The biggest one was about 4-5mm in length and 1-2 mm in width. I thought after wards that I should have tested them with a magnet to see if they were ferrous or not. I might seive the rest of the old oil to see if there is any more. Do I need to hide under the duvet and cry for a bit, or any on got any ideas? The engine ru

just been catching up with this thread, a few people have got into VR's pretty quick! It never occured to me to ge honest. I just couldn't afford a really nice MK2 16v. Very glad I ended up with the VR though! Eats most valvers for breakkie!
