  1. so started reading this thinking 'this should be interesting'

    http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?5021443-Tim-mullen-s-MK3-runs-10.81-131mph-stock-motor-VR6

so in the US their idea of a 'stock motor' has a whopping turbo stuck to it and this 'goes without saying'

"OBD2 MK3, 10 point cage, full exhaust, MT 24.5"x8" slicks on 15" wheels, stock piston/rod motor with just arp rod bolts, stock head, TT 288 Cams, Borg Warner 66mm turbo, modified Kinetic turbo manifold, Juan short runner intake manifold, 630cc injectors, made 465whp at ~17 psi and 511whp at 20.5 psi and ran 22-23 psi tops at the track. The engine, boost, and wideband is controlled with a Lugtronic standalone and wire harness. " sounds pretty stock to me 8-)

  2. not the engine as such but the exhaust

hoping it was an issue that my long overdue cooling service would sort. but after new coolant pipe, low temp stat, temp sensor, coolant flush and change the car still kicks out a lot of heat when you get out. you can really feel it coming from under the car when you open the door and a few people have mentioned it

high EGT's maybe? its stock apart from intake, remap and exhaust

water and oil temps both show normal and no running issues

  3. yeah. and im reluctant to take too much notice of the actual numbers, but interesting that it makes more than the 2.5. could be down to the system itself though? i mean they dont have a 3" TT exhaust to test against their own? their own 2.5 might be better still

i dont know that 6hp over the 2.5 though is enough to make me wanna shell out for the extra cash for going 3" though

  4. get yourself a proper matched touch-in kit (paints4u do a good range), degrease the panel, dab some paint in the chip so its a nice little blob, harden it off (heat lamp or direct sunlight for a few hours and leave overnight, then get some 2k+ wet and dry thats been soaked and using a block flat the repair off gently until its smooth, then go over the dull area with an RO polisher and some menzerna polish
