  1. 1)Thanks will look at blue if unplug will it still run ? 2) The vagcom is only communicating with ABS controller the rest say no response 3) Really would welcome your help on gettiing to the bottom of my issue would you be willing to keep posting to help me fix...thanks
  2. Starts first time Leave it run Turn it off Then will not start again Hear humming noise from throttle body is this normal ? Notice that the auto choke cuts off after warm and then have the starting issue

Car has been sitiing for some time,started it two weeks ago to move it no problem then failed to ever start again,cranks witha pop and then dies. can't seem to use diagnostic as car converted from 16v to vr6, Please help otherwise VR6 engine and car to scrap yard. PS engine was rebuilt about 3 years ago and done 2000 max then just been sitting due to lifestyle changes... Thanks
  4. I have recently noticed that someone has put in the wrong plugs on my VR i.e bosch dual core and not platinum got a pink resdue/burn mark on the spark plug has anyone seen this before. Cheers for whoever did that !
  5. Due to unforseen circumstances my mechanic can no longer help me with my 16v to vr6 conversion, Can anyone recomend somebody in Surrey or West Sussex that would take the job up. Yes I am disapointed. :@
  6. oK, sorry V6 4 motion, I have had it at VW and they can't find fault after throwing 800quid on it.

  8. Hi all I have got a 63 plate vr6 4 motion and it won't accelerate, i have put a new throttle body on,a new throttle pedal,2 new ECU's and as soon as you acclerate the ECU mangament light comes on with throttle body error on ECU and I get no power, please urgent help required. Feedback urgent
  9. Hi all,due to alot of porblems with my other car this project was put on hold, it is now back on and just finished rebuilding it last night, it's got all new chains,tensioners,the fun part was putting the collet rings back on around the valves.
  10. Thanks for the info, as I have not taken the GTi engine out yet then, and am in the process of rebuilding the VR do you guys reckon I should carry on with the project or dicth it.
  11. Yeah is a big risk but, I always liked them and I have seen quite a few go for it and the sound alone is appealing, so I pritty sure the performance will be quite good. Anyone live near me who is up for a race just to see the difference.Non modifed one.

HI all, having never actually driven a VR6 and in the middle of doing the conversion to VR6, any one shed some light on how much better the torque will be on a standard VR6, my 16v runs at 170bhp and the top and mid end is really good cus can rev the ... off it, but I have noticed that the VR6 clocks revs are getting red mid 6000rpm, i know may be silly qiestion but i need to know if i will be happy once done the conversion, cus the 16valver ain't to bad as it goes.The vr lump is a 1998 2.8 ODB2 VR lump.

  14. Hi mate, I went to GTi festival when these first came out and this guy put a twin turbo on it I think, 0-60 3.6 secs, you got the cash I would do that just imagine the torque.I been in a standard one and that got torque as it is.
  15. No way, I can't believe it fella,I have only just joined this club and you have given me some sound advice. Guess you got to what you got to do, losing your VR prob did not help you. Hope you will come back one day with a twin turbo'd R32.
  16. Hi all anyone know why VW chnaged the VR6 top chain back to a single in the later spec engines and made the tesioner a plastic one as opposed to a metal one..I would have thought the double chain and metal tesnsioner would be the best.
  17. You need a special round shaped set of pliers, they are shaped at the end to go around them and grip them.

  19. I was told mileage about 73,000,As for pumps, won't be doing those as I was told the oil pump would be around 200 mark, bit more cash I have not got at the moment. I just stripped all the valves down and cleaned them gonna put in new valve stem seals,chains and tensioners,new clutch, would love to put some good cams in there but the shrick are way to pricy for me, doing all the gaskest etc, then comes the fun part, taking the 16v motor out and changing front cross member etc and putting the VR6 in and prey to f...k it starts.My mechanic told me that if I ain't gonna try putting it in then he f
  20. Thanks for the support,. It's not hard to do and you should try it, as long as you got the right tools and a work shop to do it in, and a handy mechanic who you can ask questions. This is my first ever engine rebuild so if i can do it so can anyone else.
