I'm just wondering if there is any benefit with vagcom over a bosch diagnostic tool? Hopefully you'l know what the bosch is, otherwise let me know and I'll post some details.

Where did you get the haldex removal tool? Decent price? Been thinking of getting one myself as the haldex oil and filter service is due very soon on mines.

Hi It does fit and is a resonably easy modification. I bought an exhaust section to bridge the gap between the cat and the exhaust. I also bought a genuine R32 bumper to save me from having to cut the bumper. The tow hook does have to be removed and the mechanic (my dad) had to fabricate an exhaust mount. The flapper has been set to stay open too, it sounds great. Quiet when idling and just a little louder accelerating. I'd thoroughly recommend it.

Is anyone else really disappointed in the value of their 4mo at the moment? I've been looking out of interest and the likes of parkers etc value my car at around £2600 tops for a private sale. Looking at whats available for a similar price, I just can't see anything that I'd consider. I wasn't even too fussy about what I was looking at either. I stuck to VW, BMW, Audi, Honda and even looked at a few Fords. For info, I've a 2000 x plate 3 door 2.8 4motion with leather seats and 88k.

To be honest I never got around to fitting it. I've got the r32 exhaust and a genuine R32 bumper sitting ready to go on, yet it's still the standard 4mo at the moment. It does sound good though eh? Nice and raspy without being too chavvy.

Ipod connection with 4mo standard headunit
dave_unreal replied to dave_unreal's topic in Syncro, R32 and 4motion
Do you have a link at all? I did a quick search and couldn't see anything. -
I'm just wondering if anyone knows what options are available? I've got a mkIV 4mo with the standard radio cassette/boot cd changer headunit. I'm fairly sure it would be possible to simply unplug the CD multichanger and get an Ipod connector, but is it possible to get a double adaptor or splitter so I can use both the ipod and my CD changer? I suppose the main problem would be how the headunit would 'know' which one I was trying to listen to? Thanks for any advice

I get 45 to 50 miles from a tenner. A mixture of town and motorway use. I do take it easy though...well mostly!

My new exhaust should be getting delivered tomorrow and will be installed tomorrow night. Happy days!! Only prob is I've also ordered an R32 rear bumper, but wont be painted for a week or so. Basically means the exhaust is going to be a bit sticky outey for now. Will likely be selling the 4mo exhaust soon if anyones interested?
-
Cheers Peter it does sound good. I've actually organised an OEM r32 exhaust now, hopefully won't be long till it's fitted. How do you find the noise cruising along at say 60 - 80 mph?

I looking to get a new rear bumber and spoiler sprayed, along with the bonnet (removing stonechips) and a light scratch on the rear panel. Can anyone recommend any bodyshops in my area? Or have an idea of rough costs? Thanks

Yeah I know what you're saying. I've already got an R32 front bumper though, it came with the car, and I've decided to finish the job and sort out the rear of the car. I know they are fairly common but IMO the best looking rear bumper.
-
I've actually considering an R32 style rear bumper as well. I've found this one online (hope it works as the auction has ended) http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=160211108010&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=006 I take it I wouldn't need to worry about shortening the tail pipes if I do?
-
Thanks for the pic. It even looks good with the normal 4mo bumper. I think I'll give it a go.

Yeah I did this to my old VR. It does make a big difference in my opinion. It's loud and the wife could always tell when I got home from work purely on the exhaust noise, and this is from inside the house. There is a main drawback though. I found driving along at roughly 3000rpm a nightmare. The exhaust drones away and is quite noticeable. I thought it sounded like the wheelbearings needed replacing only far louder. Unfortunately I don't have the car or else I'd have posted a recording. I suppose it's just as easy to weld it back on if you don't like the droning. I'd recommend to put the

Am considering fitting an R32 exhaust onto my 4motion but I wanted to check a couple of things first. Hopefully someone will have done this before. Will it simply be a case of cutting off the old silencer and welding on the R32 one? Possibly with a sleeve of some kind if the bores are different? It won't be too noisy, will it? It's really for cosmetic reasons that I'm thinking of this. I'm not really bothered about any performance gains, and I don't want any excessive noise from the exhaust. (I removed the middle box on my VR and although it did sound sportier I got fed up with the drone at

Yeah I think the smoked style might suit it too. Not sure what the proper name for my purpley blue colour is - Winchester blue maybe? Anyway prob dark enough for the smoked to suit it.

When I got the car it already had lexus style tail lights. It wasn't an issue for me but I've had a couple comments and the jist I get is that they let the car down. Any suggestions about what looks good? I think the original items look dated and already have mk 4 lights on front.

Right forget what I said last night. I was pissed and looking at the BMC website wrong. It does defo need to be the CDA85-150 for the VR6, so I think I'll just sell it for a small profit hopefully.
-
Sorry as above the recommended size was 70-150 for the VR6. If you look at the diagrams on the link below, effectively the inner part is the recommended size so the same coupler hose will be okay? (At least I assume so). It's only the overall diametre that differs, will that mean that my previous thoughts that only difference will be the capacity of air flowing will be lower is correct?
-
I've investigated the filters available on the BMC CDA site. http://www.bmcairfilters.com/infoCDA.asp The 70-130 is recommended for 1600cc engines and less, however is the closest match to the correct 85-150 size. It does make sense when you say if I can get a connector to fit at both ends I'll be okay, but on the other hand, I take it it'll not function as well as it can't handle the same airflow?
-
I bought the filter on impulse on ebay without knowing what model it is. Turns out I've bought the cda70-130 which is the size below the one recommended. Does anyone know if it will still work, and if so what disadvantages will there be? Will I even be able to get a coupler hose to get it to fit? Cheers for any advice.

Sorry I'm not familiar with the advert. Is it new? Anyway I think I've got this sorted, the heat shield seems to be loose and I'm guessing thats where the noise is coming from. Not sure why it sounds like it's coming from the roof though.
-
Anyone any ideas on this one. Travelling on the motorway last night I heard a weird mettallic knocking noise. I'd probably describe it as sounting like the roof panel was vibrating. It seemed to be coming from around the passenger seat area. I've tried to hold down the seat, the roof door panel etc to try and muffle the sound but nothing makes a difference. I don't hear it at low speeds, and it doesn't become exaggerated by bumps. This might be a coincidence but the gearbox has been sticky recently and I'm planning on having the oil changed in it on Monday.

Just about to buy a full set. Does anyone have any at the moment and if so is there a noticeable difference? Seen the full set for £168.00. Seems a decent price - unless anyone knows of someone cheaper?
