So does that mean you've been towed alot?
  2. what the hell were you searching on to find that? Top find!
  3. www.potn.co.uk do some.
  4. Are you expecting trouble with that fire extinguisher within arms reach?
  5. Right, I've looked at lots of pictures of engine bays and have noticed the rocker covers. Some say different things. I realise the shiny ones are not standard, so this is purely a question for those who have a standard rocker cover - what does it say? Mine says VR6 - DOHC. If the wording is different on standard rocker covers does this tie in with a version or something? I'm confused. *-)
  6. Nights suck. Although the roads are empty...!! wish I was home to play on said empty roads.
  7. How many people here work night shifts? I don't normally, but 4 in a row are called for, over the weekend too!! And to make things worse they are in Oslo in Norway. Its only just got dark and it's nearly midnight! I used to work night shifts about 4 years ago but changed jobs cos they're crap. So question: what do people do on their night shifts?
  8. I'm slowly working my way around different sports cars, from a Punto GT to a Fiat Coupe Turbo, to the VR6. I've liked the Mk3 for ages just never found one I liked or had the cash to spare. So will keep the VR for a few years and then find another unique sporty car which not many people have which is reasonably priced! Also my sister has threatened to get Mk3 GTi for years cos she loves 'em, and I'm very competitive. Just in case she gets one she won't stand a chance!!
  9. Wonder how much that'd cost? £50k?

The 20vT had 220BHP as standard, good for 60 in 6.5s and onto 150MPH. As it was turbo charged it felt alot more rapid than the VR does, but thats due to the turbo lag. 3rd gear in the Coupe was simply incredible. I think in a straight line race, on a dry surface, with little or no corners involved, then there's be no competition. Through the gears the VR wouldn't stand a chance. But when corners appear, then it'd be a totally different story! The good thing about the Coupe though is how easy it is to get extra torque and hence extra power out of it. As it's turbo charged and runs at 0.8b
  11. All those bits must have cost a small fortune in Oslo mate! I've "lived" in Oslo for the past year so know how expensive it is! And with the speeding fines and all that, where do you get to use all those horses?

CHAVTASTIC :S :S If you look at it in a certain way the front looks like the Stay Puffed man from Ghostbusters.
  13. I work away for big lumps of time in a row, generally between 2 weeks and 2 months. In that time the VR6 is sat in a car park at work not doing anything. Is there anything I should be doing to make sure she'll be ok when the teary reunion happens? I had a Vectra last year and it was sat for 5 months and of course didn't start, so should i disconnect the battery? I'm also a little worried about the effect this will have on the alarm. Thoughts please.

So what about a golf VR6 against a Corrardo VR6? Obviously the Corrardo is slightly quicker and, IMHO looks better than the golf. do any Corrardo owners think their poop smells better than that of a Golf driver? I had a Fiat couple 20v Turbo for a while, and we 20v Turbo owners were top of the pile. Certainly in my opinion! Then the 16v Turbo owners, then the 20v and finally 16v owners. It wasn't snobbery, but more of "I've got a better version than you with a better engine" and in a straight line (don't give a Couple a corner - the corner will win!) the 20v would win hands down. I eve
  15. I got a BMC through the other day and tried to fit it at the weekend. Got a little stuck when trying to get the filter onto the air flow unit - it won't fit! I'm sure I saw a How To section here somewhere recently but can't find it now. Can anyone help? I put a K&N on instead and that sounds good, so if a BMC sounds better, I want to get it on ASAP!!
  16. Was it flying low or you taking some big air?

Apologies if this has been brought up before but a question about snobbery. As this is a VR6 forum, is there a level of snobbery by VR6 owners against GTi owners?

  19. I've heard that on certain cars, linked to age I think, the MOT does not require a CAT to be installed. Is this true? I've got a 96P reg VR6 and would seriously like to take the cat out of the system so to speak. Obviously it'd still have to be in tolerance for the emmisions side of thing. Can anyone provide any more info or a link to more info? Ta.
  20. Well I managed to find a P reg Green VR6 with 51k on the clock, bucket loads of receipts and full VW service history, apart from last year, but there is a receipt for this service, just no stamp in the book! I'm very nervous about saying where I got it from just in case it has already been discussed on this forum and it has been left alone for a reason!!!! So hopefully I've got myself a good motor which will last. and I travelled 5 minutes from work to get it!!!
  21. So when looking around for a VR6 on Autotrader and the like, its quite rare to find a Mk3 VR6 with less than 100,000 on the clock, even rarer to find a Corrardo VR6. I know - I've been looking for 6 months now!! Obviously time is against us here cos they stopped making 'em a good few years ago. So question - what is the higest mileage VR6 people know of that still moves forwards under its own steam and uses it original engine? Is the reputation of VW for bullet proof engineering and juice burners which will got for 150k, 200k real?
  22. Can i ask a sensible question? Has anyone dyno'd their machine with any of the mentioned induction kits/drilled boxes fitted? Extra noise is all fine and dandy but when you're after real performance gains either in torque, reponsivness or top-end, there is no substitue for a graph! I have ordered a K&N induction kit 'cos i'm a K&N fan, but reading here this thread the BMC sounds good as does the Carbonia thing, but its subjective. On my old Fiat Coupe all I did to the breathing was drill the air box and put a K&N panel filter in it and the difference was incredible - the low do
