  1. juts thought id drop a quick update fitted this up - did it from the top aswel ..just bent a bit of the lip out the way - no big deal at all u cant even tell and would like to say f-ing hell its made a big difference ..the throw is tiny - i dont think could ever go back to the standard shift! ive still got the remaining gruven short shift bit to fit up and the new selector bracket and also the metal bushes - so cant wait to check that out only thing i woud liek to complain abaout if the ifttin of the b&m - not enjoyabel at all! ..instructions are shit and pictures are crap to also the ret
  2. went to install mine up 2day the fitment doesnt quite seem right to me ...the mount for the front and rear come as 2 parts; a lower small mout and a larger upper mount the lower one which is the smaller one, is smaller than the original mount that it replaces. the instructions say this is intentional but then how does it fit securely in its housing (especially in the rear engine mount? also when you tighten it up its starts to compress, but unevenly, like a wedge surely this cant be right, i must be doing something majorly wrong?! can anyoe give me some help - especially someone who has fitte

  4. is there anything else that can be loosened to gain some slack inorder to achieve this "right angle" i really did try turning the rod at many different orientations before deciding to give up and put up a post on here
  5. ok got hold of the instructions on my pc now "step 9" is where i got got stuck tryin to slide the "pivot rod" out ...on a mk3 theres a raised lip of metal that protudes from the tunnel - it prevents the pivot rod from sliding past it the diagrams in the instruction are based on a mk4 any suggestions from anyone who has fitted this upto a mk3 vr6? thanx

  8. my vr hasnt done this yet but it is 15 yrs old and i am really not lookign forward to this happening can anyone recommend a course of action to reinforce the mechanism to help prevent this from breaking
  9. thanx a lot peoples ...glad to see this is the case! i did have a look to be honest before just knocking up a thread the problemsi could see was that oce i undid the first 13mm bolt that hold the large pivoting pin i could nto get it to pull out fully as it woud clear past some of the housing without the pivoting pin out i cant get the shifter out pm sent to sankysvr6 ..thanx

  11. i usually always work on the car my self b ut its all on my drive and im just not feeling the current weather i keep fallin ill everytime i go out out and do some work on the car or even gie it a wash how long would the job take a garage u think? or even how much do you think a garage would charge?
  12. any one done this job themselves at home or on the drive or anything venom recommended its a job for the garage they said it involves getting the car up in the air and removing the exhaust heat shield and dropping the linkage from underneath ...i didnt this this was the case i thought the whole job was done from in the cabin?
  13. lol i hope so! if this doesnt work the next stage is to fit an r32 engine and gearbox :^)
  14. wel im realy unhappy with my gearbox right now, not because it really that bad, but because it used to be really really good and now im a bit spoilt - i know the car is capeable of beign better so ive ordered: 1 - the gruven billet aluminum part 2 -metal cnc bushings that fit aon the bell housing to replace the plastic one 3 - a b&m short shift 4 - and when all of it turn up i will get part 1H0711202A fom vw THIS BETTER FIX IT!

  19. can any tell me where i can download or aquire a free copy of a vr6 workshop manual like the bentley i hear so much about i have been meaning to purchase one but times are hard and the car requires other goods too btw did i mention im still a student, and student = broke lol...but broke or not the vr still needs to be cared for
  20. i spoke to a audio place about a year ago in leicester that were willing to take the original vr6 alternator and rebuilt it to run a larger capacity ...it maybe a suggestion but i dont know if it good enough btw killer set up! i was happy with 2 x jl w6s and moved on to 1x jl w7 but looking at that my system looks like a toddler
  21. go on the bfi engineering site and in there somewhere there is a guide on how to go abotut chainging your engine mounts its saved on my favourties on the other laptop ...if you cant find it ill get it off the other lappy for you mate
