  1. No idea, but it did one mine and few other vr owners had same issue.
  2. Do you lose your heaters if you dump the aux water pump like you do if you lose the standard header tank? Good thread this guys.
  3. Awrite I know this off topic now but how come you only removed the spare tyre section instead on the whole boot floor and exhaust tunnel? Can you still run the standard syncro fuel tank the way you've done it or do you need to swap the whole floor like John is doing? Ken
  4. How thick was then metal used for the frenching? Need to show these in progress pics to my bodyshop that bodge'd mine. Ken
  5. Not when the people who wrote the policies are boost junkies lol
  6. As Kev said depends on how your turbo is mounted and how big it is. If they standard mani flows so well I'll stick with it free's up money for elsewhere.
  7. Just saw this picture, looks amazing! You need 17" superleggaras for that thing.
  8. That doesn't look too bad actually! Plenum volume looks a little small' date=' but it is tapered for even air flow though. With something like that at that price level, you're not sure how much science has been applied to it or whether it's just been cobbled together onto stock runners. Intake tuning is bloody complicated, especially on an awkward engine like the VR6! It still baffles me. [/quote'] I know hat you mean about the plenum it does look a little small, And I think it is a tube welding on to original runners, but there's loads of them on ebay.de
  9. Could also run one of these http://cgi.ebay.de/VW-VR6-Turbo-Ansaugbruecke-Kruemmer-Bruecke-2-8-2-9-L_W0QQitemZ250519672776QQcmdZViewItemQQptZTeile_ohne_Strassenzulassung?hash=item3a5422d7c8 Trix uses that or a very similar one on his vrt. Shame about that Spa one I always wanted to run that to hide the boost pipes and throttle body.
  10. Going by those links Schimmel was the only option as the C2 one doesn't fit a rado and the spa/hpa/hgp is "the worst manifold ever made" in terms of flow lol
  11. Schimmels were used on some big power drag VRs like 6-700 hp were they not? So maybe at that kinda power/boost level the standard mani just didnt flow enough. Most people on here/vrt owners swear by them.
  12. And can you get the Wiseco pistons in 8.5-1 as thats what people are after.
  13. I like how the seller bribes you into leaving positive feedback by offering you a free 'tuning' chip lol On another note you could buy that 'kit' flog the turbo to somebody buy a decent one, relocate your brake reservoir n keep the mani or make a Y peice to go from you stock exhaust manifolds to turbo flange. Did someone on here not buy that vr6 turbo that was going cheap on ebay with a similar kit.
  14. Yep, absolutely not benefit other than hiding the wires.
  15. Not sure about the 4 mo one but there's starters on ebay quite cheap, Just make sure and mount it upside down, hides all the wiring on it.
  16. Any one of those 35r options would do nicely lol
  17. Focus RS's are 2.5L so you'd have an extra 400cc to help spool your turbo if you had a larger one. You couldn't track your car its too nice man esp the bay, sleeper all the way.
  18. Seems to be a good find, both Wiseco and Eagle are well known names and its a good price. What would the cc increase to using the larger piston sizes? Says they are all oversized. Interested.
  19. They are also better at handling big power if thats what your planning. Whats the going rate and what box codes should you look out for?
  20. Head was stripped, cleaned, skimmed and rebuilt ran for 6k miles before car was broken, so its pretty much brand spanking total mileage on it was 84k. If you recon the bores sound ok then I'll get that head and get it timed up.
  21. Got an update, checked the bores this morning, cant feel any scores in any of them, I can feel a very slight groove when I think the top of the piston rings travel must be as its a little below where to top of the piston actually stops. Also there was no movement in any of the pistons at any point in the stroke of each one. Edit: Is £60 a good price for a complete head?
  22. Mechanic turned it off, took rocker off and the chain was slack between the 2 cam sprockets.
  23. Full vw service history, tensioner broke whilst at vw. Will checked the bores with a fingernail in the morning but was gave it a wipe after spilling bit of oil and didnt notice anything, will also check for play in the pistons. Cheers guys
  24. Evening I'm in the progress of rebuilding my engine that had skipped a tooth and wanting to know a few things. I can get my hands on a valve spring compressor til next week to have a good look at the valves but I've got pics of them in the head, I think a couple of bent but want a 2nd opinion, sorry lots of pics. Also Before I start of the head what do you guys think about my bores? I've got a picture of each cylinder so you can have a good look. If they are damaged, is it much work to go to 2.9L? Pistons don't seem to have any damage on them from the valves which is good, more pics, so
