Evening guys and gals I'm looking for a bit of advice or pictures of your air filters, I'm having my chassis legs smoothed and repainted so I don't want them to be hidden by a big old air filter, so where are yours and are there any trick places I could hide it? Airbox down by the subframe to protect it fro any water? Hit me with some ideas guys, thanks Ken

It didnt used to have that much removed from the bay, reading on Edition he's done alot of work on the bay now its proper smooth. Gareth car made 262 at the wheels, mind you thats a R32 lump with mods.
-
What kinda power would this be expected to churn out with some decent cams and exhaust? Also would you need to remount the radiator? Think gareth has on his r32 vento.
-
Seems to be running really sweet mate, how you finding it with the 35R on that A/R? What kinda revs does it spool and reach full boost? Ken

1/4mile - 15.5 0-60 - 7.09 GTi International, my 0-60 was second only to a certain Jim Potter, so quite happy with that. Milltek with a decat and an old air filter only mods. Ken

There was a gold one for sale on scottishvag about 6 months ago, had good spec list, was used as a knockhill track / 1/4 mile car I think.
-
Yeh been to Meercat they modded my milltek with a new tailpipe and removal of the week box, it'd be them who'd be making up the section with no box. What's the spec on the system they made you up? Here's how a milltek with no cat sounds like on the dyno for those who are interested, http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v699/kennywatson1/?action=view¤t=Dastek-Run2.flv
-
Would still be enough back pressure not to effect torque too much surely? Ken
-
Random qustion but would there be much if any power gains if you ran a system with no boxes? As mentioned I have a Milltek on my vr but was think of have a side exit or new rear section with no box for track or 1/4 mile days, would it be worth it? Ken
-
Thanks for that guys, sounds good I'll have a look at that site, think they are 169 inc delivery from ebay the now. They good with hard driving then aye? Ken
-
I was looking at getting a set of these as I need some adjustability on the car as its just not sitting how Iwant it to, have any of you guys on here used them? If so what are your opinions? Thanks Ken
-
Difference is quite noticeable, but I like my car loud, only goes on for MOTs then off the next day.
-
Milltek for me, really love the sound of it. Sounds a little bit louder with no cat and the other box removed.

Sorry to jack the thread but how are uou finding the Hottuning coils? I was about to order some but would like to hear some reviews from VR owners. Ken -
Brave man going syncro but good on ye. One of the guys on club polo made a custom toothed pulley to run more boost, maybe look around on either polo or G60 forums, think there'd be more info on thier forums. Still got my vr, no progress really, I proposed to the mrs, getting married in the summer so I'm saving hard, cars on the back burner for sure lol

Nice cooler mate, think you bought my ZW1s a while back unless somebody else has a similar cooler on a vr in newcastle lol hows the car coming along? There was a guy on Vortex (i think) who make his own toothed belt set-up for his vortech, had an engineering shop make up some for him IIRC, Pitstop and AW tracksport did something similar when putting toothed belts on M45s for G40s. My mates G run a toothed belt set up and I''ve always wanted a similar sound from my car, I think its do-able if you though properly about pully sizes etc and did it yourself. Ken

Think that'd be a little small, got to remember scobbis and evos are only 2Litres, yours is a 2.8. My mates was looking at a similar turbo for his 20vt, and the 16G was gonna be the sooner spooling, even on a 1.8 so I'd steel clear. Maybe get a 2nd opinion though as I'm not geat with my turbo knowledge. Ken
-
Yeh that'd be direct to hub, no adapters involved. Not wanting to stretch the tyre as I'm not keen on it no matter what the masses say about it being safe, I little stretch is fine, I have 195s on my TT and they handle fine.
-
Looking at some lightweight wheels for the VR but they only come in low offset, they're ET10 and 8J wide, so wanting to know if thats gonna effect the handling any? I realise I posted a pretty identical post on E38 but I figured there'd be more poeple on here who track/ drive thier car hard. Lemme know Ken

Well as your car is a left hooker pretty much all the US "kits" will fit your car so that should make things a little simpler. Quaiffe is a type of differential. The standard diff, when you start wheel spinning its usually the N/S wheel that spins as its shorter and easier to spin and leaves you going nowhere fst. With a diff from the likes of Quaiffe or Peloquin the power gets transfered to whichever wheel actually has traction. Pretty simple explanation but hope it helps, Have a look through Kevs DIY Turbo thread, so so informative. Ken

Did you seen the Mk3 Harlequin VR6 turbo that was in PVW last month? Issue had loads of VRTs in it. Wanting it positioned similar to that, low down, not so I can use the standard mani just so its a little leater and more discrete, having the boost pipes coming under the engine rather than above and if I can get my hands on an HPA inlet then none of the boost pipes will be visable. Dubpower, raceland, strictly dubs can all supply you with stainless 6 branch manifolds if your meaning N/A, think the best bet it to search on ebay and give the seller a reasonable offer and he'll sell it to you. If your meaning F/I then any exhaust place will make you a stainless manifold but it wont be cheap, expect to pay around £600+, I'm having a stainless "Y-peice" made up like one of the guys on here so I can still use the standard half manifold you get and have the turbo mounted where I want it. Hope that helps Ken

Thanks guys I'll just go 8.5 then, just didnt want it to drive like a dog off boost. Ken
-
I'm going to go with the T04R i mentioned on another post so just wondering what would be the best compression ratio to run it at? Also if I ran it at 8.5 would the chains still fit correctly as I'm sure I rear somewhere it sometimes makes them really tight? How would it drive on the 2 set-ups? Offboost that is. Ken

Short clip.
