    ok iv been topping up my coolant for the last few days checking every for leaks. now i think the coolant bottle might be art of the problem. was filling it up today and the car was parked on a slight hill which is when i noticed a drip from the back of the bottle. now i cant see it but when i felt the bottle it was soaking wet. has any1 had this happen before? i dont think it is the only thing wrong.

    ok im slowly trying to get my vr back into mint condition. just had the chains done and im planning to change a few other bits and bobs that are squeaking and rattling. my major issue is the interior rattles that the car has. mainly coming from the dashboard but more recently from other random interior parts. now what has every1 else done to stop the rattles? is it just a case of replacing the clips that hold each bit of trim in place? if so how do i stop the dash rattling? cheers in advance

    took the oil cap off but didnt see any signs of mayo. i presume the irratic idle has nothing to do with the coolant loss?

    also im not sure if its connected but since the chains have been done it seems to have developed an irratic (sp?) idle. its kinda like the engine is pulsating. looking at the rev counter when this is happening it doesnt seem to be moving but as i say seems like the engine is pulsing.

    i hope not only had that changed for a new vw item about a year ago. anything else that might cause this much loss? as i said the chains were done a few weeks ago and iv only noticed today that it was way below min. just wondering why it would take so long to drop tha much but then drop so much in a few miles?

    ok i checked the coolant today and it was way below the min. so i topped it up to the max and drove about 7-8miles and checked it again and it was below the min mark again. now i filled it up to the max again and then drove the remaining 2-3miles home and checked again and its dropped just below the max line. theres been no sign of leaking that i can see. any1 shed any light on the problem. not sure if it makes a difference but i have recently just had the chains done. cheers in advance.

    ok iv got a bit of a problem with my 97 vr6. to give you a little bit of back ground info i had problems with my drivers elctric window not working when i bought it so i replaced the motor. turns it it was a wire that had snapped in the rubber bung between the door and body so fixed that and it was all well for a month or so. the same wire snapped agian only this time when i soldered it it didnt sort the problem. so i left it to be sorted another day and just havent got round to it. now to get round to me problem that im having now. today i washed the car and when i got back in the car and tur

    as above really. what else is recommended to be changed when doin the chains on the vr? engine will be coming out to do them. obviously all the guides and wot not, the clutch, doing a gearbox mount coz its gubbed. anything else?

    is any 1 running them or used them in the past? broke 2 rear springs on the vr and can get these through my work for reasonable money. just looking for opinions on them. also what kinda money would used koni adjustables shocks fetch? as thats what iv got just now. might aswell make something back as the are in fairly good nick.

    sadly i dont have access to vag com. iv got a new set of leads coming tomorrow under warranty from my work so hopefully that cures the problem. any ideas as to why the inlet manifold would still be really hot 3-4 hours after the car was last running?

    my 97 vr6 has developed a very bad misfire. started a few weeks ago and you could barely notice it but this week its become really bad. when it first started it was happening between 1000-2500rpm now its right throught the rev range and is quite bad. now iv changed the plugs and leads only a matter of a couple of months ago. but when looking down at the plugs there is a bit of arcing going on in one cylinder ( if you look straight on at the front of the car its bottom left). now i know that would normally indicate the leads but would 1 cylinder missing cause it to judder that bad?? also iv jus

    iv got a slight problem with my central locking on my 97 5dr vr6. when i look the car from the drivers door and the door pins go down like they should but the passenger door isnt actually locked and sometimes the boot doesnt either. but if i go round to the passenger door and lock it all the doors lock fine no problems at all. does this sound like a pump or possibly something else??

    any ideas were i can get some material for my retrim?? im goin for half leather with the seat centres and roof lining done in some kind of material but im unsure of what yet. cheers in advance

    are all mk3 golf wngs the same apart from the oval and square side repeaters? just some1 has kicked the shit outta mine and it seems easier to get hold of the earlier type.

    i work in a motorfactors and we tend to find vehicles built for the police and m.o.d and even the post office have different parts to vehicles sold to the public.

    im looking into gettin a full retrim for my vr. its a 5 door in satin silver. just wondering what colour combo i should be lookin at. has any1 got any pics of s silver mk3 with retrim?? im lookin at doing leather and alcantara. obviously doin seats, doorcards but will also be doin the dash and headling and a new carpet to compliment the rest of the interior. any ideas would be great as im stuck. cheers in advance

    im looking at fitting my audi pepperpots till i get my new rims. question is whats the best tyre size for them fitted to my vr? also any1 got pics of them fitted to a vr and lowered bout 35mm?

    im looking to smooth my bumpers and do away with the indicators/fogs and relocate the indicators into the headlights. any1 got a how to guide or any other helpful info?

    im getting my front and rear bumpers done, both wings, both rear quarters and the arches done for 300quid.
