  1. my cat back milltek non resonated was £242 off ebay brand new (shown at regional meets but never fitted) and still had lifetime guarantee. Milltek decat was £80. Thought it was a bit steep but made a big difference over a sports cat.
  2. Make sure you use the right connector and there's not too much pressure in your tyre. Mine blew off the reservoir and covered most of the front end of my car with brake fluid, not to mention me and my dad. Bad news trying to wash your car with brake fluid in your eye's, <> ha ha
  3. I did mine 3 months ago. All chains, guides, tensioners, gaskets, seals, headbolts, fly wheel bolts and oil resistant silicone sealant (All from TPS and original parts) totaled around £600. £15 premium membership saved me £375 approx. off the total. It cost me £1100 in total for all parts, oils, head skim, pressure test and labour but the car is fantabulous now. 273bhp @ stage 1 supercharged.
  4. 90% chance it's stem seals. I was advised to go for OEM seals as euro or GSF are no good. Cost quite a bit more from VW or TPS but premium membership saved me 40% on mine 3 months ago.
  5. Have you got it open yet?? Mine used to come out of the coupler on the drivers side inner wing!! Complete pain in the arse but if you pull your grille off, you can grab the bonnet cable with a set of long nose pliers and force it towards the passenger side to release the bonnet. Hope this helps!
  6. 131 miles takes me from full to the brim to quarter of a tank. I go no lower due to Walbro fuel pump not being sat in the bottom of the tank. On motorway runs I get 160 miles. Doesn't sound much but it only costs me £40 to fill her up with V-Power ;-)
  7. I've got these fitted to my current VR and thet are s**t!! I'been round a slight bend on the M60 near me and 'bounced' accross all 3 lanes! () I have the JOM coilovers off my other VR and \I'm seriously looking at fitting these. Maybe the shockers are worn on the jamex but I was assured they were "£1000 coilovers when they were new" only to discover they're the cheapest on the market!! Steer clear of the jamex if I was you.
  8. I have a z-engineering ZR-2 @ Stage 1, full milltek inc. de-cat and a SMALL Pipercross filter (rated upto 195bhp)!!! Everything else engine wise is OEM spec. I'm running 273.5bhp with a stealth remap. If Im honest, I'd say it was better suited as a fast road car because its not too smooth around town at 30mph. Thursday night I was out with a 300+bhp impreza, 287bhp astra VXR and a few other 'high power' hot hatches and my 15 year old VR was the quickest there (mid / top end) From the lights I wasn't too fast but overall over approx. 1 mile I was faster than any other car out. This VR cos
  9. this sounds like a big, big job!! what year is your donor car???
  10. Noticed my fuel pump whining last night whilst stood at the back quarter with the engine running. It's a walbro fuel pump. Should I be able to hear it? Car is full of fuel but not sure if it's run 'dry' before I bought the car and maybe kinda burnt out a bit??
  11. The wire is designed to be a flame trap so that if the fumes were to ignite, it wouldn't go back into the engine. Don't block it up on the rocker cover and you can get ally bungs to go in the inlet pipe off ebay if you go with the small breather filter.
  12. I pulled the grill off mine, grabbed the black cable with a set of long nose pliers and pulled it towards the passenger side of the car when my cable joint came undone thats attached to the drivers side inner arch.
  13. Just had a quick look on mine and looks like its a vacuum hose. Your car must have A/C coz my old vr didn't have this. As I said, had a quick lok and it comes from between the heater matrix (the bulkhead) and goes into the bulkhead on the passenger side. My guess is it connnects to the recirculating valve for the a/c. (The button nex to the A/C in your centre console)
  14. i thought my build was expensive!!!!!I had all chains, guides, tensioners, gaskets, etc, changed and that was £1100. That was buying all genuine vag parts from TPS and not touching the bottom end (apart from changing sump gasket) £15 premium membership saved me around £100 on genuine parts! £35 for bentley publishers vr6 manual from amazon.co.uk or with your FIFTEEN QUID premium membership, you can look at and get numerous images on how to rebuil your beloved VR6 from start to finish!!
  15. I had a catch can fitted to mine for about 20 mins. Apart from pipercross, full milltek and supercharger it's nearly standard ;-) you don't need a catch can unless it's a proper track car or got serious power!! If it is any of the above, you will need a 19mm inlet & outlet on your catch can to allow for the pressure to blow off from your rocker cover. I had a 15mm blow off on mine when I went to stealth and he told me to up size and run it to the steering rack or there abouts. I thought it would look good but turns out unless your running 400bhp, not worth it. BTW, mines runnin 273bh
  16. check for a kink in the pipe between the door and body. Could also be water in the system. Mine used to be a bit funny inthe winter and it was moisture freezing up at the lowest point of the tubes. Blew it out with the tyre pump at a petrol station!!
  17. Sounds like a silly thing but check the earth cable. As far as I know all the earth cable is brown. My drivers window acted like the motor went so I changed the motor and regulator. Auto electrician, 5 mins and £20 turned out to be just 1 strand of copper connected in the earth cable. Located in the rubber boot between the car chassis and the door.
  18. Take it to your local car audio shop. The asian fella's around my area tend to do a better job than the english one's and cheaper but I've always shopped with them and we have a mutual kinda respect for each other. I'm white and English but I also know another English fella will try n have ur pants down if you don't know what your on about!!! I aint racist, just honest!!!!!!
  19. The aux. water pumps do squeal once they're worn. do a bit of research online and get the bosch part number for one. It's cheaper than ordering a vw part number from the likes of euro because you get a copy that doesn't actually fit! My bosch one was £70 and the copies are about £85
  20. That pump is shite! I got one for my other VR about 6 months ago. Pain in the arse to fit because of the connector, noisy after 3 months and packed in. I got a new bosch one using the bosch part no. for £70. Can't even here it running now!
  21. I had mine done in April. Engine stayed in but it's gearbox off job. £15 for premium membership will save you over £100 for parts at TPS. I replaced everything that needed replacing with genuine parts from VW. Everything was delivered next day and the membership to this site saved me a fortune plus if your doing it yourself there's how to guides in the premium members section. Best 15 quid you'll spend this year!!!
  22. If you get the 3.2 / r32 sump u need the feed for the pump because of the adjusted pickup point. My last VR was low. So low you couldn't get a low profile trolley jack under the front and you had to lift it on the wing to get it under the side. I didn't have much of a problem most of the time but go between speed bumps when it's one on each side of the road and drive at the kerb on an angle to go over the bumps that go all the way accross.
  23. Relocated it on mine. Exactly the same position on the opposite side of the car. Even has the mounting points to fit it. 2 meters of 4mm and 8mm silicone vacuum hose to extend the original hoses run behind the battery, abs pump and brake servo. Looks OEM too!!
  24. I've just spent £1100 getting chains, guides and tensioners done. Get yourself registered as a premium member and you will save a fortune on genuine parts from TPS. I saved around £200 on all my parts but you DON'T need the chains doing to change the stem seals and you can check the top chain guide whilst the rocker cover is off. If the top guide needs replacing then the bottom one probably will too. You need to take the head off and the gearbox off to change the top chain so start saving!! My cheap car turned out to be an expensive car after the head gasket went and the guides were wor
