  1. Is the toe alignment of the rear wheel adjustable?? I think ive read that the camber is fixed, but what about the toe in/out? If it is, how do you adjust it? Thanks.
  2. btw if the ball joints moved from their original position your probably gonna need to get the alignment checked! If I remember correctly, I think ball joint adjustment messes with the camber on the wheel
  3. Same happened to me a while back. Theres three bolts hold the ball joint onto the wishbone, they screw in from the bottom. Like mine, it looks like the bolts have worked loose and fallen out or broken off. whereever you get a new ball joint from, make sure you get 3 genuine bolts and the nut plate from VW an torque the bolts up to the correct torque. If you want it to be extra secure you can use three more nuts over the top as locking nuts.
  4. lol petrol prices for me aint the issue, I get circa 37mpg nearly everyday 27 mile commute with 22 miles on m-way The big issue is maintenance and parts costs, one month its road tax, another month its tyres, another month its insurance, then brake pads, then bushes, so on and so on and so on... It would really help if you knew how to do a lot of the stuff yourself? that way at least you could save on labour charges. Seriuosly, be prepared for the maintenance costs! Insurance wise Id agree with most, there really is no point using all that money on just insrurance. if you realllyyy really wan
  5. lol that why i changed my box too, had a rattle in first! I drove on it for so long that by the time I changed it over, i think there was only 3-4 teeth left on 1st gear lol an the broken bits were rattling around in the bottom of the box. I think when I did change by box I changed the clutch aswell, but there was nothing wrong with the old one, it was just that I didnt know how long the old clutch was in there for as I had just bought the car, so thuoght better to change it out. Id say whoever is gonna change the box, ask them to inspect the clutch an see if it needs changing?
  6. lol mine happened the same way too, went over one of those bloody square speed bumps!
  7. same happened to me lol plug sheared off, but there was also a hairline crack just near the plug so i had to get a new sump
  8. actually apart from the v6 4mo 2.8?
  9. nice.... but does that mean no more 6 pot golfs??
  10. Normally Id suggest the same to change the clutch out, but as its only been put in there 10 months ago, I really dont think theres any need? Unless when the gearbox broke it damaged the clutch? btw 2nd hand 'box is about 150
  11. quick update, changed all the bushes this week and you were right, the front bush on the drivers side was messed up! there was a chunk missing from it when I pressed it out! new ones in there with new bolts and its all sorted. thanks again.
  12. Hi All, I changed the wishbones out on the weekend and noticed a constant drip of fluid leaking out from under the car. traced it back and the fluid seemed to be coming out of the inner tie rod boot! I squeezed the boot and more and more just kept pouring out. Im assuming that a seal broke in the steering rack and fluid is leaking down from it into the boot and out?? is that correct/possible? its also just leaking from the n/s boot and not the drivers side. also about fixes for this, is it new rack time, or are there seals that can jus be replaced? Thanks.
  13. Easy peasy. Done the gearbox mount a while ago and done the front mount today. link: http://blackforestindustries.com/FSitems/instructions/mk3motormountinstructions.jpeg
