Having my bottom handed to me by cars I can't keep with.
gti-r-vr6 replied to The Monk's topic in General Chat
The only time my vr6 was running that slow was when the hall sencer/cam posion sencer or what ever its called was messing about. Tbh the vr6 is no rocket ship but when you get to 4000rpm ish it should pull pretty well all the way to the redline. How does yours pull? Is it flat all the way through or do you get a noticeable step up in power after 4000rpm? -
Proberly not the same as you problem, but recentaly when i changed my gear box when i tightened the bottom of the shocks back up to the hub it was in the wrong place giving me loads of postive camber and made the thing handle very badly indeed. It would spin up real easy and drag me all over the road with torque steer, and pull me towards the hedge if i hit a bump at speed! Loosened the bolts on the bottom of the shock and pushed the top off the hub/disc in as far as it would go to give the car some negative camber and it sorted it out a treat. If you have loosened or had you shocks off i would

I dont think it is an easy vag com fix,but vag com should point you in the rirght direction as to what sencer or part of the abs is playing up.

I dont know anything about the audi coupe but my real love is pulsar gtirs and as it is off the road atm i brought a cheap vr6 to run around in. The vr6 is obviously not as fast as the gtir but is still a fast motor in its own right, and i really do quite like the engine. As said above you can really just burble along at low speeds very nicely aswell as open it up on motorways etc. The engine is a little bit flat in the low revs and a little bit to talled geared, but when you get above 3750-4000rpm it really does pull very well all the way to the redline and sound surperb when doing so. You ca

I am in ashford area mate,if my car dont pass its mot and i ask you nicely could you stick it on your vagcom? Tbh if it passes its mot i will be alright as its still working with the light unplugged for some reason, and the car is a bit of a dog if i am honest :$ so its not a major problem. I got that flash code info out of some fault dianostic code book that did have the early 92-96 vr6 golf listed in there? It the same sort of thing like in these links but i thing on the golf its the abs light that flashes as i dont think it has an engine check light? Also i dont think the obd1 golf vr6's ha

Well heres a wierd one,i have unplugged the abs light and my abs is working as normal again, plug it back in and the abs stops working!?!? How the hell can just unplugging the light make a difference? I also had been looking into why the abs light was flashing and i thought it may have been flashing a fault code 2234 {supply voltage}. So i looked into how to read the fault flash codes though the dianostic socket just above the ash tray behined the little cover on obd1 golf. But every time i tryed to wire it up it would blow the 15amp fuse second from the right in the fuse box? I was going from t

Just been out for a run and over filled the header tank a bit to see if my cap is working and it seems it is. I let it warm up and just before the fans came in maybe about an egg cup full of water came out of the header tank over flow so i do beleave my cap is ok. I then let it idle for a fair old time and let the fans come in 4-5 more times and no more water came out just maybe a very little bit of steam every now and again, thats if i am seeing right as it is cold out lol. The hoses are still fairly firm and maybe soften a bit when the fans come in. Can one of you guys have a feel off you wat

Thanks for the reply mate,it only flashes when the ignition is on with the engine turned off.If the engine is running it is on all the time. I am going to have to unplug the bulb and hope it passes its mot tommorow and try and get it on vagcom at some time if it passes.

Sorry to butt in on this thread but is a victor reinz gasket a original standard VW part or an after market equvilent? As for metal headgaskets on gti-r's you have to make sure that the head and block surfaces are very smooth indeed,i think its something like a 50ra (rough average) finish or something like that or it may not seal properly.

My abs light is on and my abs is not working. When i turn my ignition on but not start the engine the abs light will flash in a 2234 sequence then stop and repeat the 2234 again, does this meen anything to anyone or is this a vagcom job?
