  1. Could someone possibly confirm for me please?
  2. Just a quick question, is the 2.9 corrado starter motor the same as my 2.8 Passat motor? Both are manual. Cheers
  3. The plug leads are new so clean and i've checked many times to make sure they're fitted properly. The plugs have only done around 4000 miles and look fine. Thanks for your input though mate.
  4. I've got a problem with my car again. It doesn't seem to be firing on all cyliders. I've done the usual, plug leads, coilpack and had the plugs out checked. cleaned and changed them around but the problem is still there. I've had the plugs out a few time and on previous occassions some them have had unburnt fuel on them, mainly the 3 on the front bank. But more recently when i removed the plugs they were all dry but with the car still running the same which is baffling. When listening to the engine idle it doesn't sound too different but you can hear it through the exhaust and obviously it's n
  5. I have considered the 4 mo wheels as well as baby comps which i think should also fit but now that i'm looking for a set there's none, there were plenty a month or so ago. I've got a set of 16" Corvette wheels but 2 of the tyres aint too hot and aint ideal for the conditions we have just now. The tyres on my 17's have plenty tread but the rears lose grip far too easily, i don't mind a little bit rear end action but these are just rediciculous.I'll maybe just replace these and go with something skinnier if i can't find anything suitable. I tried to get winter tyres for them but they're hard to
  6. I'm looking for a set of cheap 16" wheels to fit to my Passat VR for over winter. I would like a set of VW wheels but not sure what one's will fit over my brakes if any? A few months ago I bought a set of RXII's of the mk4 variety which I know don't fit. Will monty II's fit? Some of the later mk4's came with 312's so surely they must fit right? To be honest they don't have to be VWwheels just as long as they fit over my brakes. Cheers
  7. No probs mate i'm not in a massive rush, the car doesn't get used much at all just now.
  8. I flushed the engine on the last oil change which was about 5k ago and i just changed the oil again last week. Over flushing can cause damage i believe so i didn't do it this time around and don't plan doing it again in the future.
  9. Once you work out a price let me know please. i'll need to get a bit more advice first though from my mate (he's a mechanic) to see if he thinks it's the pump before i was to but though. I don't want to buy it then find out it's not the pump.
  10. It's done 116k. The oil pump was one of my first thoughts because it's like the engine is starved of oil for the first few seconds. Any ideahow much a new oil pump is?
  11. Could be the lifters. I take it the only way to sort this is by replacing them? Providing it is the lifters what could have caused their failure? I've never heard of lifter failure on a vr6 before is it fairly uncommon?
  12. I don't think so, i'd say it's definetly a noise from the engine itself but thanks for your input.
  13. Hey guys, I've recently been getting a rattle from my engine on cold start up which doesn't sound great at all. I wouldn't say it is the chains, it sounds more like the engine is starved of oil the first couple of seconds on start up and dissapears within a second or two of firing up. It's pretty loud and it makes me cringe everytime i hear it so would like to get it sorted asap. Could it be the oil pump or maybe some sort of sensor needing cleaned or replaced or could it be something much worse? Thanks
  14. Does anyone know if the airbox from the mk3 is the same as the B4 Passat? I know the Corrado one is different as I've already tried to fit one but they seem to sit the other way around. Thanks Si
  15. I changed my throttle body on my Passat for a 2.9 one. I know people say it makes no difference but i'd had it for ages and i thought i'd give it a good clean up and stick it on anyway. It is actually different inside from the one i took off. Anyway after I fitted it i took the car for a wee test drive and was not best pleased. At around 2000rpm the car just dies but then if you give it full throttle it clears and revs as normal. If i hold it at the 2000rpm then it just misfire's a bit. I done a search on here and came across the TB alignment trick which i tried but i couldn't hear any noise c
  16. Yeah they are pretty few and far between. I need to do the rear discs, pads and bearings but the locking nut key for the wheels is knackered which is holding me back. Paint wheels satin black for time being, coilovers should be here soon, remove towbar, all new lights for the front bumper and get rid of that terrible exhaust at some point aswell and also a few other bits and pieces along the way. It's actually got a Koni adjustable kit on it atm so it handles ok but the tracking is well out so could be better.
  17. Here's a couple of pics of my B4 before it goes through a few changes. All comments welcome
  18. I've just bought one, it's a 94 saloon in silver with 111k and in pretty good nick. I'll get some pics up once i get a chance to take some.
  19. It's fixed no thank god. It's a fault with the wiring again. It seems whoever done the conversion hasn't taken as much care as possibe whendoing the wiring. We think there's alot of the mk3 wires in there that don't need to be which will all need to be sorted in te future. Anyway it's the wiring under the inlet manifold again. Some of this was replaced last week because about a foot and a half of it burnt out due to not being insulated properly. I don't know the exact ins and outs because it's not me that's doing it but my mate has replaced it again with thicker wire i think so hopefully all w
  20. No never been checked so might be worth a look. Since found out that this is a new problem and not the same as the first problem. It's only running on 3 cylinder. It doesn't seem to be the usual suspects like leads etc cos they're all new so any other things that it couls be?
  21. Still need some help with this if anyone can help. Well the wiring was replaced along with another dizzy, new leads, plugs, dizzy cap, rotar arm and ecu. At the garage the car ran fine on a number of different occasions but i went to pick it up to take it home and on the way home about less than a mil intohe journey it went back to exactly how it was. Please someone help me out because it's driving me mad. Thanks
  22. Hey guys i'm hoping you can help me out with a problem i've got with my obd1 engine in my mk2. It all starts from when i thought i would take the plugs out to see what condition they were in and give them a clean until i got new one's. I removed the leads and the plugs one by one and cleaned them. After they were all replaced i firede up the car and heard what i really wasn't expecting, a 6 cylinder engine on less than 6 cylinder, 5 or maybe even just 4, not sure. My first thought was, i've knackered the leads so i bought new plugs, dizzy cap and rotar but i had to borrow some leads from my m
