  1. AT last! Spent Saturday taking things apart an putting them back together on the golf to try an sort this miss fire out! Turned out it was wiring! The culprit was a 5pin plug that connects to the top of the coil pack! if you move the wires one way it runs like a bag of shit if it moove it the other way it runs smooth an fine! !!!
  2. IS there any leak around the thermostat housing? mine did similar to this! Needed new thermostat! have a search threw the site for similar symptoms !
  3. not a clue mate! i have no clue when it comes to turbo kits! It looks shiny though! ha. its summit i'm looking to do at some point once ive actually got mine running properly maybe! ii like the idea of a silly horse powered vr for weekends. i was looking at this one http://www.bahnbrenner.com/vw_audi/products/1070/MK3_VR6_Turbo_kit . Think i need to save the ££££ first!

  5. mine was ding this but it was due to pressure building up an pissing gout the breather in the expansion tank i think. Im no mechanic but i put it all down to the thermostat breaking! There apparently known for going in vr's!
  6. it was the thermostat housing ! the seals had gone , the thermostat had also broken! i purchased a new housing an seals an replaced on friday night! quite an easy job if u have tools!

My vr6 has turned into a night mare over the last week! first coilpack went! was replaced an ran fne , then coolant leak and miss fire¬ repaired the coolant leak and ran fine until it got warm , now it missfires in teh induction kit area an judders intermittently ! sometimes it runs fine for a few miles then bam engine runs like a bag of judering crap! Change all ht leads when i put a new coilpack on, check all spark plugs all were fine! any ideas?

Ok so set to this morning looking for the missfire problem! i mooved the throttle cable to one side to find it had been resting an rubbing over a big lump of wires , which i presume is the main wireing loom! two have rbbed down to metal! i dodgly patched them up with black tape an it ran long , further an when ths miss fire did start it was no were near as bad! Any ideas on how to repai 2 wires that are attatched that a circuar lump of plastic ?

  10. qll fitted an not leaking! did it last nite! The coolant has stopped leaking but the misfire when warm is still there!
  11. was tempted to get one from awesome but as i have one sitting in the garage i might as well use that! ill think ill do the job with the stat in!
  12. I read some were that some people dont put the stat back in when replacing? is this true?

  15. well there is a slight leak from around there so going to replace that all new housing , seals an thermostat! etc
  16. when you say tried water pump? how do i chck the water pump? oil was reading 96 oc on last run!

  19. vag comed the vr tonight again an got fault codes ! 01247 - Activated Charcoal Filter (EVAP) System Solenoid Valve 1 (N80 00668 - Supply voltage terminal , signal low or intermittent. ive had a look at what these are an not to sure if the first would cause a missfire?
  20. Ok i have been putting in some serious wrk to figure out what this missfire is all about! checkd all the usuals an no problems! After doing some reaserch on thsi forum i have found some one with similar problem that came down to a dodgy earth on the hall sender and idle stablisation valve so i figure there is no harm in checking this! Were is the earth for this?
  21. Yer it has a brand spanking new coilpack on, the odd thing is that i got home about 11 an took car for spin , it ran like a beauty! Didnt miss a beat! its all very odd1
  22. Ok so coolant is still pissing itself , think its a bugged expansion tank , now gained a dirty misfire too! Can any one recommend decent ht leads an spark plugs! ill give some new ones a try ! if that fails i might just set it one fire or drive it into the sea

Why would the expansion tank start pissing coolant out after the car has been run? it clearly has a leak in it! but when i puled over it almost looked like it was overheating an spiriting out the expansion tank! I got my vag com on last night an no fault codes shown! Im going to replace the expansion tank and cap but not sure if there isnt something else rong like a nakerd water pump or sumit!
  24. Ok so the presure seems to be quite high in the pipes plus there is a leak! i filled her p the other day with the cap off an it was going mental in the expansion tank! I previously cam to find what looked like no water in the expansion tank! but oped it p after letting it cool an it filled right back up an spat 70% out! Also started to miss fire to! It has a brand new coil pack on! any one had any similar problems!?
