Hello all. I have recently noticed the front passenger footwell is wet when it rains. The previous owner had the windscreen replaced around 18 months ago and when I pour water down the passnger side windscreen liningm water pours into the car. Is there a quick fix I can do myself with sealant or do I need to take it back to the windscreen people for help. Any advice greatly appreciated.

Hi there. I had a new aircon unit fitted by VW Swansea just before Christmas along with a major service which cost just shy of £1000. I noticed today that when I activate the aircon, there is a rasttling sound from the engine which goes as soon as I go into econ mode on the climatronic unit. As I haven't really used it since it was repaired/replaced but thought I would test it out the other day which was when I heard it. I obviously intend to take it back Monday but has anyone any idea what it could be?

On Parkers, it states that the 5dr VR6 has a 0-60 time of 7.4 secs. I have also seen other figures including 6.9 and 7.1 What are the correct stats? Thanks Mike

Hello all. I need to replace the headlight bulbs on my 1996 VR6. Is Ebay the best place for replacements and are there certain bulbs I can get which are brighter than the norms. (Which can be fitted without hassle if poss!) Many thanks Mike

Appreciate the advice but it is hard to know what properly in is! They seem to sit quite loosely in the enclosure and offer no room for maneuver. Fiddly blddy clip as well. I can't see how it can go in any other way to be honest. -

This thread I found earlier suggests you can adjust:- http://www.vr6oc.com/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?63385.post -
Dipped beam stopped working on both sides..help needed

I am reprising this thread! I received the bulbs today and fitted them. (Awkward job) but drove this evening and they point a little skywards. Do I need to take out the bulb and re-adjust or is it the plastic housing that holds it that needs adjusting? Thanks -

That is what I wanted to hear! They are both snapped. I bought some replacements online earlier, so all sorted. Many thanks for your help. -

Hello all. Noticed my dipped headlamps have stopped working the other day. I have checked the fuses and they are fine. Here is a picture of the bulbs...as I am a total n00b when it comes to car electronics, I was wondering if anyone on here can tell by the pictures if they are 'gone'. Or is it likely to be something else? All other lights work fine, fogs, sides, main beam. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello all. I have a 1997 VR6. I had the air con re-gassed about 4 months ago and it has been fine. The other day, things went wrong. As soon as I activate the |Climatronic unit and I can hear the motor kicking in, the car engine cuts out. I have had some issues which I think are related to the ignition switch in the past, (Stereo not staying on, had to have it wired on permanently to bypass the switch) and recently, the car sopmetimes takes a few turns of the key to start. Is this aircon thing related, or is it something else? Many thanks Mike

Hello there. Bit of background 1st. I own a 1996 VW Golf VR6 and have recently fitted a new Kenwood HU, Infinity door speakers front and back with a Kenwood amp powering them and a Vibe Black air sub. I have fitted a few stereos over the years with this kind of set up. All has been well in the 2 week since I fitted it but yesterday I had reason to take out the head unit as the Blutetooth microphone for the HU arrived yesterday so I can call hands free using the HU. Took HU out, plugged in mic (Without putting HU back in) made a test call to the missus...all working fine. Plugged all the RCA's

Hello all. I have recently boughtmy 3rd VR6 and whilst itis a cracker, the perennial windows issues remain! The passenger side goes down but will not go up...I suspect the regulator here...would this be a fair assumption? (Motor seems fine) The driver side rear just does not work. (Ttied the switch from the other side..no joy, repaired brown wire in door which was severed) Is there anything else I can check for the 'no power' side? And would this be fine as a replacement for the passenger side:- http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=310312045636&ssPageName=ADME:X:AAQ:GB:

Hello there. I am fitting new front and rear speakers and need to wire them to my Kenwood amp in the boot. I have routed the RCAs no problem to behind the HU and all the power and remote leads are in place. I have fitted the new speakers to the existing pos and neg wires. When I did this on my last VR, it was a nightmare routing new wires to the amp in the boot because of the difficulty in getting wirse past the big white Molex plugs. Could you guys offer some advice on the best way to go about this? Many thanks Mike

Is the mechanic I go to pulling a fast one?
sadken posted a topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
Took my car to the local VW mechanic last week as I had a slow water leak and he said that I needed the rear suspension bushes changed. (I have taken my car to him on many occasions in the past but recently he has had some inbred clever fucker with him who does the sharp intake of breath through the teeth crap) When I got there, he was replacing some 'pump' and was waiting on one to arrive. He hadn't got around to the suspension bushes. Then the inbred helper added..your rad's got a leak m8' I went to Barnsley on Saturday to watch Swansea city play (500 mile round trip) and the car didn't use -
I have a similar query. Why aren't the plugs the same on either side.

Thanks for all the pieces of good advice here. I just need one last one! I got it back to bare metal, treated it for rust, cleaned the area with pre-paint wipes, taped it and primered it (3 coats with 10 mins inbetween to dry) Tomorrow I am going to paint it. Is it about 15 minutes between coats and 4 coats? Also, do I then leave overnight before I sand with 1500 (Fine) wet and dry paper (Do I use water or just dry paper?_ and then lacquer it with the same number of coats/drying time? Many thanks one and all.
