  1. How about these on Ebay with tyres:- http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260495817079&fromMakeTrack=true&ssPageName=VIP:watchlink:top:en
  2. Hi there. I am about to put my 1996 Vr6 Highline through its MOT and need to replace the tyres and thought I would change the generic looking 15" alloys whi;st I am at it. Could you guys give me some suggestions as to the following:- 1. I am after big spoke wheels rather than loads as they look better (I think) and are easier to clean. Would I be able to get a set of wheels and tyres (17") for around £400 or is this being ambitious. 2. Where are the best places to go? 3. Is Halfrauds a waste of time? Many thanks.
  3. Tried the bay but not much about. Just want discreet covers or the originals. Thanks for any advice.
  4. Thanks for the good advice one and all. Problem I have right now is I am on the dole (made redundant last year), so funds are limited to say the least. The advice given here is going to come in useful when I return to work but right now I need a low cost solution. Could anyone give me any advice in that direction. Many thanks.
  5. So if they say I need a new back box, they aren't ripping me? Also, what is the axle (letterbox) silencer and roughly what cost am I looking at in total? (I am taking it to Town Tyres in Swansea..they are a decent indie garage)
  6. I have a '96 VR6 Highline. I have take a few photos of the problem near the back box. My question is, do I just need a new flexi pipe or a whole back box? Don't want to get ripped at the garage when I take it to them tomorrow. Complete technophobe when it comes to car maintenance. Thanks for any advice.
  7. Thanks for that advice. You say VW..do you mean the dealership/repair centre? There is a GSF branch just nearby..can I get what I need there?
  8. I have had my VR6 for about 10 months now and have covered around 5000 miles. I have always taken my cars in the past to garages to change the oil but think it is time to try it myself. Also, I have heard a few horror stories about places like Kwik Fit and National etc Do I need the following:- Car jack...WHICH SIDE IS BEST TO JACK UP? 5.5 ltrs of oil...BUT WHICH OIL DO I USE?!?! (Can I get away with just 5ltrs as most containers are sold in this size?) Oil Filter...BUT WHICH FILTER DO I USE?!?! Washer for oil pan drain plug....BUT WHICH ONE DO I ASK FOR..ANY ONE? Funnel to pour new oil in wit
  9. Hi there. I am upgrading the 4 speakers in my VR6 and have sorted the fronts with new speaker wire and managed to route it past the plastic wiring block and into the cabin. The issue I have is with the rears. I have managed to get the door panel off no problem but how do I route new speaker wire through to the cabin and then out to the trunk to the new amplifier? There seems to be no way past the wire block there like there was with the fronts. Do I need to cut the exisiting speaker wire, 'cabin side' and then splice the new speaker wire here and run to the amp? Ta for any help.
  10. I have managed to route the front ones through the white block but am having an issue with the rears. I think it is easiest to take the door panel off to start to route the wire and my question is how do I get this door panel off? I can see there are 'popping' clips all the way around which I have popped off but the panel still seems connected. What is the procedure for removing the panel. Any help would be mega appreciated as I am tearing my hair out with this audio install!!
  11. Thanks for the advice. With a bit more daylight on my side today, I managed to squeeze the wire just near the top left hand side of the white power block...was a bit of a bitch but managed it without drilling. One other question, when it comes to the back speakers, as they are situated a long way from where they route through the door and into the cabin, is the best way to attach the new speaker cable to the exisiting speaker wire and then pull it through the door? Or do I need to take apart the door panel?
  12. Hi there. I am in the process of installing some Infinity after market speakers connected to an Amp in my 1996 Golf VR6 Highline. The problem I have is with the driver side (haven't tried any others yet) front speaker. I cannot seem to find a a way to route the speaker cable through the bit by the door hinge through to the car to enable me to route it back to the boot. I can't seem to find a way past he circular electrical block in this area. Can anyone offer any advice?
  13. RE the grounding point, found a good point under the boot carpet last time I had a sub installed and it was fine.
  14. Thanks for the replies guys. I currently have a power cable running through the firewall and an RCA ready for a sub install as I have just got rid of my last one. The reason I was going to route the cables down different sides is because of interference...would this be a problem? I will be running three sets of RCA, 2 power cables (for the sub amp and the speaker amp) and the remote turn on wire AND all the speaker wire for the passenger side speakers...isn't this a bit too much down one side? Ta for any help.
  15. Hi there. I have just purchased 4 Infinity 62.9i's and a decent Kenwood Amp to power them. I am going to route the RCA's down the passenger side as there seems less mechanics and more room down that side. And the power cable down the driver side with driver side speaker wire needing to run to the amp in the boot. I have managed to remove the plastic rails but the pillar in the middle where the seatbelt is, how do I remove this? I need to route the rear door speaker down through this to the boot. And RE the power wire, how difficult is it to route this behind the HU and out through the firewall
  16. I am thinking about getting these Fusion speakers with a 110RMS rating for my MK3 VR6. http://shop.audioimages.co.uk/fusion-powerplant-pp-fr6520-240w-max-65-inch-coaxial-car-audio-speakers-p-2504.html 1st question...will they fit? 2nd question...if I uograde the 4 speakers and am looking to purchase a 4 channel amplifier to power them, what (per channel) RMS amp would I need and could you recommend a decent one at a decent price. Thanks.
