Hi, Are there differences with the 1995 and 1996 exhaust systems, seems that the system I have is from an early car and I have a later car, so I need a cat back, would any GSF one do? Cheers
-
Hi, My cat is dead, and patern parts wont fit it, does anyone near Norwich have a cat I can buy or borrow that's genuine? The genuine one is just too expensive for me right now as I'm moving house this week. Cheers Matt

I've just heard back from Clive Atthowe, the lambda is is earthing and the car is going into limp mode! Just called VAG and they would like £124.99 + VAT for the bosch one and it may take a few days to a week, so I'm going to try these guys Just Lambda http://www.lambdasensor.com/main/bosch/price.pl?item=0258003842

Yuchy, car is still failing now just on the Lambda, it's shot up to 1.09! With a new MAF when it's hot when it starts it stalls still. Clive Atthowe have it at the moment, very scary taking it somewhere to be fixed, not something I normally do... LPG soon so no more emissions testing

Hi, I've chucked some red-x stuff through it and a tank of V-power, going quicker now. I've got a new MAF sensor to pick up as well as the car stalls if you don't give it some beans when started (done this for years so forgot about it!) I'll get it MOT'd tomorrow as it's up at the end of today. If it doesn't work it will be on fire

Hi, I think it was the CO2, should be below 0.20 and the lambda one should be 1.03 or below. Singularly these could be done, but not at the same time e.g 0.50 and 1.07 etc. Spent 2 hours on the ramps poking at it trying to get it through!! Cheers for your replies so far.

Hi, I've just had my VR6 fail on emissions twice, the cat is a month or two old and the lambda is new last night. There car has a K+N and also the crank case valve is broken, new one tomorrow. Is there anything else that could be wrong with it, HT leads and plugs are a year old and the coil pack likes a good misfire when it's wet very rarely (4 times in two years). any help or guidance as two who can guide me would be lovely, MOT's up on friday and I need the car for work for my 75 mile commute from Norwich everyday Matt

Hi, I've done a search and had loads of results but without pictures I'm struggling due to complexities of the scary engine. I've got a leak in the header tank, top it up and it leaks whilst filling it behind the black plastic G12 bit and also a seal by a thermostat (I think) in the cylinder head. I need the parts to fix, what parts do I need and anywhere to by them online as I can't get to the main dealer due to work commitments. Cheers

Cat C insurance specialists? Any out there?
slow_matt replied to Jonnyboy82's topic in Car Insurance Discussion
Hi, Many insurers will cover Cat C cars, many will want a current MOT and a VIC certificate or copy of V5C where it's indicated that it's been done.; Cheers Matt -
Oops, mpg debate definately in full flow. Are you lot joking, smoked mine up to Alton Towers, moving at a high rate of Leptons keeping the oil temp at 108, and 24mpg was the average, and on the way back averaging 27mpg. I cannot get the mpg as low even in short burts! Does everyone else average 140 leptons everywhere?
-
Yeah I find it really easy to get good mpg, to be honest I kind of have to as I drive 15 miles each way for work. I've learnt to go easy on the right foot and save guzzling for when I'm not commuting otherwise I get bored of cars very quickly.

Cheers and good luck with them. I've found working on the golf almost like learning a new language compared to the French and Japanese cars I've had before! But relatively simple once you've got the hang of it. I've had to have a fair bit done so far since my ownership, however I'm not loosing £3-400 a month as I would be if I'd bought a new car. And I'm averaging 31mpg.

Hi folks, Not really said much on here during my 6 months ownership so I thought I'd pop in an update. I did quite a big service yesterday and found out that my car may have previously been owned by jeff capes as I had to use a breaker bar on the oil filter housing and some percussive engineering on the sump plug. The ht leads were also knackered, one was bodged with electrician's tape, and another a normal generic ht lead which was a knightmare to get out, not too sure how much I trust the stamps in the service book!! Also put on some samcos, a new water pump, and a k&n. Runs sweet as a n

Cheers, I'll keep you updated as to the fix! Just waiting for the car to be recovered as I hit a pot hole on the way home and my locking wheel nut key is missing

Hello, My VR6 Highline has started missfiring below 1000rpm over the last couple of days in this tripe wet weather. Pulling away in first gear feels like it's been put into 3rd of 4th gear. Are there any common problems that I could try first as it's intermitent. I've used the search function and found a lot of problems but no real common theme. Many thanks as usual Matt
