  1. as said a hundread times, the car is fine, i just don't like where the power is (but there is plenty of it!!)
  2. Your right i have'nt given it a fair chance. I have decided not to sell it (unless someone makes the right offer!!) and i'm going to keep it for at least 6 months to see if it grows on me. I do like the ride and it's a really nice car to drive it's just the power isn't there where i want it. I expect in a few months time i'll be on here raving about how good it is LOL I bet it would be a brilliant track car!
  3. No, not driven one before but plenty of Golf's. It's not the car, it's me. The VR is wrong for me.
  4. Well i must be backward then LOL The VR makes me feel pretty numb.
  5. The VR may be quicker but the GT just felt SO much better. it put a huge smile on my face and there was shed loads of power from the bottom to near the top at any speed in any gear. it made me feel 17 again and i didn't want to give it back. it may be slower but it was 10 times more fun.Am i just weird?? LOL
  6. i'm revving it to near red line!! It has plenty of power, just in the wrong place i.e above 3500 rpm. I want the power from almost the get go and not high up. It's not the car, it's me. The car is doing everything it should, it's just wrong for me.
  7. Yes your right, the deisel GT is a totally different beast and i love low down torque which i thought i would get from a V6 but no, Yes it does sound nice. Probably be up for sale soon after a few more drives out.
  8. Just got back from my 1st blat out in the car. Yep it's fast! Drives nice and handles very well but..... Where is all the power below 3500rpm? There not much at all which is surprising seeing as it's a 2.8 V6. Above 3500 rpm it pulls quite well and the power is progressive which is good. You really have to keep the revs up to keep the power there which is fine on a track but next to useless on the roads unless you want to loose your licence. So the verdict is pretty disappointed to be honest. For me the power is too far up the rev range. I would have liked it to come in much earlier. Is there
  9. yes i do. i'm used to paying £150 for classic car insurance and 650 for the amount i'm going to drive it is in my opinion too much but it's gonna be done! in about 5 mins actually he he
  10. Problem solved. We decided to go with the 650 quid insurance. I'm still pretty peeved about paying that sort of money for something i'll only use every now and then but hey ho.

  12. sorry, not 450 its 650. The VR6 is damn good but it's only a car at the end of the day. May have to go up for sale when i get the V5. Real shame but i'll keep looking for better deals.
  13. Yep, 3000 miles. If in the wifes name it comes out at £450 which again is too much
  14. I have done a bloody stupid thing. Before buying the VR6 i went onto GoCompare.com to get a quote which was about £230. Brill i thought that will do me as i can just about afford that! So i bought the car which has modded suspension (lowered) and std apart from that. Went to insure it today and have been quoted nearly a grand!!!! I stupidly thought that the no claims i had built up with the wifes policy on our Sharan was transferable but it's not. i'm the named driver on the Sharan polocy. It's with Direct line who quoted me £640 with the no claims which i just can't afford. So i'm kinda bug
