Ive done a few searches with out any luck. Can anyone give me an idea of the going rate for dizzy to coippack conversion (OBD1)? Im not taking into account labour, as its only simple mechanics. Id just like to know how much to expect to pay for the full kit. (ie cams/sprockets, plastic rocker cover, timing cover, sensor, wiring and the coil pack) 2nd hand price is probably more realistic, im assuming you cant buy all the stuff new now anyway. Thanks

Camber Issues with fitting FK coilovers?
1949bug replied to 1949bug's topic in Wheels, Brakes, Suspension and Steering
yeh but theres no way of properly locking it other than that one bolt. I know the bolt as torqued to FT but still im very supprised considering its german engineering. -

Camber Issues with fitting FK coilovers?

Ar that makes sence. I did notice the top hole on the coil is oval shaped. Just didnt assume it was for camber, wouldnt have thought it would allow for 6" of total travel. Seems a very crude design for a german car...Its very hit and miss. think i'll start camber fully in and tweak from there. So the only issue still concerning me is that gap at the top, well not me, but worries about MOT time. Right air gun out, and wheels off time. Thanks Nat for the quick response. -

No not a stupid question. Im feeling more stupid buy the minuite lol. Front bolts? im not sure what you mean -
Hi all. have a set of FK coilovers for my VR6. Im new to coilovers. Fronts are FK GWR VA/09,05 G1 Rears are FK GWR HA/03,06 G2 Ive just fitted the fronts, and went on fine. Problem is the camber, the fronts are leaning out buy about an inch, when car is on the ground And although the top mounts are done up fully, there is a gap between the strut top body and the rubber mounts. I have no instructions with the coilovers, so have assumed I can use the O.E top mounts. Is this not the case. Have been on the fk website but no info at all available there. Im also assuming the 2 spring set up is co

Cant believe no one else has posted on this with soooo many views? Ive got a new full chain kit, both chains, tensioner, guides, new hydro bolt and even a lower main oil seal while the flywheel is off! and a new clutch kit to go on also. Looking at the job now, I simply need to transfer the old dizzy cams, rockercover and housing over to the coilpack engine. Im doing it this weekend. But would still be nice if someone else could back this up. On the up side i'll have a full coil pack conversion kit for sale at some point for someone!

Yeh thats the plan. almost have the old engine out. Have decided to take the whole front subframe out as one unit. That way can easily fit a new clutch and assemble it on the floor and lift the whole lot back in. Had a good look at the 2 engines side buy side tonight. So am fairly confident its a straight swap now. Like you say i need to use the old dizzy stuff, chain cover etc. Only thing i need to find out now is if i can use the cams in the new engine or have to use the old ones from the brokem one. Im assuming the coil pack engine will still have the cam lobes for the dizzy, Would be very

Yeh not a nice sight, cant complain tho really, as the car was peanuts in the first place. Good news is i have the spare engine, bad news is the 57 beetle it was destined for now has no engine. So looks like it will go back to scooby power! 30 views so far, would have thought Id had some more replies buy now. Yeh as you say they are both obd1, so im pretty sure its a simple swap. Bit like the old escorts when they changed from dizzy to the kj jetronic and gearbox sensors and blanking plate on the dizzy hole!? Im sure some one will be along soon.

Hi all. I recently won a VR6 on eaby for a bargin price. The chap was selling it for a friend (apparantly) Any way he said spairs or repair, car was good and he thought but he thought the head gasket had gone. Id bought the car simply for the engine etc for a cnoversion, but on seeing the condition of the car decided to keep it as a mk3. Today I tried to start the engine for the first time, it did not turn over at all, so suspected the starter solonoid. On checking the dipstick the oil level was about 3 times over full!!! so I drained the oil, about 2 ltrs of water came out followed buy the o

Yeh been a member there for a while as uesd to own a mk2 gti vr6. There seems to be a fair bit of info, but again its all related to mk2s pretty much which are plug in and play basicaly. Ive not had much luck finding info on conversions in to other cars. The electrics im ok with really, basically my best bet will be to install a complete loom from a mk3 and adapt it to fit the beetle. But the fuel, fuel tank and fuel injection I am struggling to find any info on.

Hi yeh thanks id already looked at that. I lot of the mk2 conversion is just plug and play really, especailly on a later mk2 16 car with the oe2. As im basically building from scratch im really looking for a bit more indepth info mostly on the fuel side of thigs really as a beelte and fuel injection are a daunting idea!
