  1. got it working. fiddled about with the ignition barrel key sensor thing and followed wires to the immobiliser. all connected so god knows wot was wrong with it. cheers for the pointer marky boy. muchos grassy ass!!
  2. ok, so checked the timing and everything seems fine to me. put the dash back in and all the switches back on etc. tried starting it again and it runs for like a second then cuts out. if u give it sum gas it will rev up on start up to 4500 revs and then die. sounds tickety wen it starts aswell. also put my cheapo vagcom lead on but it wont work. (worked before tho). do u think it could be the camshaft sensor? its not that old tho and it worked before i took it apart.
  3. me and my cousin recently did my head gasket. put it all back together and it starts for a second then dies. not sure if we made an arse of the timing or if we put something on the wrong way. were also doing the matrix as it failed and the dash is hanging out. no cables are attached except the ignition one. a) if the timing is out will it ruin the valves? do u think the cables out off the dash will cause it to not start? any help will be much appreciated!!!

  5. I had this problem. eventually put it into the the vw and they said it was the crankshaft or camshaft sensor. (can't remember sorry). I had replaced both (easy job) but had got a faulty part of some crappy Internet site. buy from somewhere decent.

  8. does it start if you leave it to cool for a while? my vr kept doing that. i replaced the temp sensor, the crank and camshaft sensor. it still kept doing it, so i bit the bullet and took it to vw stealership. ;( the guy found the crankshaft sensor was a faultly one. i had bought it online for 30 bucks (online automotive if i remember correctly). they charged me 170 bucks for the pleasure!!!! sorry bout the ramble but it still pisses me off!!!! :@ :@ :@

  10. Do you think the calipers will unsieze themselves? As I have 2 weeks to burn about in it before the mot is due.
  11. hey all, i had my car in the vw garage the other day to get wishbones fitted and i asked the guy to look over it to see if it will pass the nearly due mot. the mechanic came back and said my car needs new brake pipes, calipers as all are seized and bleed nipples dont look like there going to come out (cars been sitting unmoved for 2 months), new discs and pads and a new pas pump. are the brake pipes easy enuf to do and do u think the calipers will unsieze them selfs? im a plumber to trade so it just seems like pipes to me. maybe not tho!!!! is the pas pump do able by myself aswell? was quote
  12. hey all. i recently tried to do my wishbones and made an arse of it!!!! (bolt snapped, new subframe to be fitted but someone that has a clue!!!) i managed to get the wishbones on for just now, but as i needed it moved. i thot i would drive it and wen i put it in gear it just makes a grinding noise. my mate told me the driveshaft has popped out. i think iv fucked them!!! do u think i need new drivshafts? or will the old ones pop in? the hub was moving quiet freely which i thot was odd?
  13. wen i start my car in the morn when its cold, it starts revving to 4000 rpm for like ten seconds!!!! its driving me crazy!!! they neighbours are all staring out the windows and giving me dirty looks!!! bad craic!!! the warmer the weather the lower it revs on startup and if you drive off then it sticks at the 4000rpm for a little while before settling back down???? all help gladly recieved.
