  1. contact star soldering at http://www.starsoldering.co.uk/ Will be sending my ecu to him asap
  2. Thanks Finny, can you confirm what the link between the handbrake light and abs? my handbrake light is ok? and secondly did you VAG tester show an ecu fault? hence its removal etc....
  3. Thanks for that, can you give me your repairers details? May consider buying a used ecu, then swopping over once its resoldered?
  4. Very interested in your repair, I have had an ongoing problem for more than 9 months, I paid for a specialist to use his equipment to check the problem, and it came up with a rear offside sensor. Changed all sensors it passed mot, but the light came back on again but is intermittant,. Rather than pay the specialist another £75, is the VAG unit you mention accurate enough to isolate specific abs problems and who sells it and for how much? ps live in Reading cheers Peter
  5. I am interested. what was the end result with Knotts??? Is it beneficial to let your insurance expire, then go back to same insurers a new customer???
  6. Hi Tim, it wasn't clear from my post that the £435 quote was from you, Why can,t you quote for an insurance without knowing what the cost of the renewal is?(which this year was grossly over inflated) If I was a brand new customer, what difference does this make?, May go back to you get a new quote sans the future modded bits and return to std air filter (which is less than 20bhp increase, in any case) and put back my VR6 badges, then come back once mods have been fitted, is this possible??Can an existing policy be upgraded? ps someone I know was hit in the back of his car, despite not reall
  7. Try a local VW independant, will cost about £70 to find the fault code, saves money in the long run by replacing the faulty part and not replacing using trial and error.
  8. Can you confirm that OD2 cars are higher bhp than OBD1's ????
  9. Pointless using an intercooler without a Turbo, (the Turbo increases the air temperature going into your engine) you will probably end up with less horse power as it will act as a restriction, turbo air is pressurized so overcomes this restriction. For cheap BHP fit a nitrous kit....
  10. I hate renewal time...you spend time on the phone, give them all the details,,....and what??? how does this compare?.... live in Berkshire, no points, (I no longer overtake unmarked police cars!) 10 years plus bonus, aged 52, car is 96 VR6 lowered suspension, steel wheels, hella twins, cone filter, and nearly forgot GL badges! (but includes future fitments of ss exhaust and Audi TT competition wheels) fully comp protected with 1500 miles business use £435? (which slightly under cut by an very over an inflated renewal from Flux's ) in comparison,my wife who runs a 300 bhp Corvette, group 20,
