  1. I agree. I highly recommend getting full alignment done on a Hunter assembly. STS usually have them, and everything is included - camber, caster, toe-in - the list goes on. They'll even calibrate the machines to suit your car and it's suspension. I've lost count of the amount of times in years past that I've taken a car to STS and thought - is it worth it? As soon as I drive away the answer is definitely!

  3. Hmm, might have to do some investigating. Although I want to sharpen handling I don't want to compromise the ride - I've been in too many bone shakers! This is all long term though...

I need to post some pictures, but so far mods on my black 4mo are: Mk5 R32 wheels in black with some polished spokes Lowered on Eibach pro springs Aero wipers Smoked side-repeaters Black diamond brakes (discs n pads) all round A jolly good clean inside (previous owner was a smoker) removal of auto-gaz conversion (really, on a performance car??) and now attention being given to cosmetics. It's actually now black rather than a bit grey (when I bought it back in Jan) and will at some point be going to bodyshop for more tidying. Possible plans include: BMC CDA to replace really dodgy ch
  5. Hi all, I've just fitted Eibach springs to replace a couple of cracked ones on my 4mo, and found that the brakes are really getting a bit low all round! On my GTi (gone to a better place) I changed to Black Diamond discs and road pads, but I really don't know what to choose for this car. I don't really want to spend a fortune, however I do like upgrading parts when older parts need changing. It's an infrequent driver, covering maybe 4k a year tops, I drive it hard (ish) and my wife drives it with the kids, so decent brakes are a priority... What do you think?
  6. lol, you mean - 'if it aint rubbin you aint dubbin' My mk4 gti is lowered on Eibach Pro Kit springs and dampers by 45mm. It's a firm but comfortable ride, very little if any rubbing really. What do you suggest?
  7. Hi all, I'll be buying my cheap cheap Golf VR6 (about a grand) in the next few days and already I have a few things planned... If you had just bought a cheap VR6 what would be the first mod you do? Chip? Wheels? Sort out bodywork? I.C.E? I plan to check the engine thoroughly over first and service whatever needs doing... Including guide rails if necessary. Also I'll plug in my VAG-COM when I go to see it tomorrow and check it out after a hot run. Just a quick question - where is the diag port? Is it in the same place as my Mk4...? Cheers!
