Couldn't register in time, but going to pop along and pay on the gate.
Unless someone can squeeze my newly purchased VR6 on the stand?

Mystic blue VR6
I wondered if anyone on here has owned it or knows of it?
-
Pain in the arse to do, but its worth it for peace of mind

I changed with 5w30 last time, but topped up not long back with some 10w40 as its all I had in the garage and it was late
should I drop the oil and replace with 5w30 again?

Guys, I have a strange noise coming from the VR6. I wondered if anyone in NW could help diagnose it.
TBH, I dont wanna take it anywhere like awesome and pay £200 just to be told its fucked.
I wanted someone to have a quick listen, see if they can tell me whether its terminal, or an easy-ish fix. I am looking to sell the car soon, so unsure on whether to dump a spare lump in, or possibly fix whats gone first, or just leave it.
HALP
Basically, the car on start up has a tap/knock. Like a lifter has drained of oil. Its litrally for 1-2 seconds, like one revolution and then its quiet. On idle, its not noisy. Revving the car on the spot doesnt give any strange noises.
However, on the road is different. It sounds to me as if either, as above, its got a knackered lifter, so isnt being opened proper, or like the cam lobe has worn, so its "slapping" the top of the lifter. You cant hear it on over run. You can a little under load. Its mainly auidiable on the motorway, at part throttle. Just like when you have been coasting in gear and as you got back on the accelerator, very lightly, you can hear it.
Can anyone shed any light/lend an ear sometime soon??
Thanks guys

Guys, my release bearing is gone. Going to have to get a new clutch kit and bearing.
Does anyone one on here fancy undertaking this task for me?
I am willing to pay/help/bring beer/make pizza
-
Is it possible to just change the release bearing, or do i HAVE to do the clutch at same time?
Bit of a difference in price if the old plate still has some meat on it (havent checked yet tho)
Can anyone confirm?
Also, anyone close to Manc/Rochdale who fancies doing ti for some reddies??
-
Yep, sounds like a split rad. Winter blues.
Try some K-Seal, and be prepared to put a new rad in
-
Rikki, loving yours on those TT's. Makes me want a set for my Dragon Green VR
Also, what are the rims on this:
-
could be a bad earth, or the charging wire is chaffed?
-
That the one you got off me pearsey??
Mine has shattered too
Eurowagons told me it comes from the VW mould. Lying wankers

Guys, need to give the VR a post-winter service. I am thinking:-
Oil
Oil Filter
Fuel filter
Plugs
I did the radiator and new G12+ last week, so thats good
Might even see about re-bleeding my brakes with some Dot4, as its probabaly never been done, lol
But what plugs should I go for? Champion, NGK, Denso etc etc
No mods to the car, totally standard. Leads seems to be in alright condition too
-
Just had a look, and they are listed as different, only slightly though
31147 GEARBOX MOUNTING-REAR G3 1.9 Diesel 11/91 >2/99 - £15.60
and
31147B GEARBOX MOUNTING-REAR G3 VR6 1/92 >12/97 £15.60
I assume one is rubber, one is hydraulic??
-
sweeeet
will get my arse to GSF then
-
Guys, I need a new engine mount at the back right (as you looking at the front of the car), its the one close to the driveshaft.
Its totally gone as engine rocks by hand.
I just want standard one, not vibratach or owt.
Is it VR specific, or wil a GTi one fit??
-
a thousand times better mate
What wheels are you going for??
-
Could also be the aux belt tensioner?
Fire it up with the bonnet open and try to see if its front or back.
-
Hockypuck FTW

Erm.......... mine doesnt work, so just carries on sliding
I prefer using the handbrake in invoke "steer from the rear" on cornering
