  1. hi. i have a golf vr6 which was lowered at the front onto 60m springs etc. i just wanted to replace them to standard, so picked up 2 front complete legs with coils from a golf. it seems strange but upon fitment all went ok, the strange thing is the rubber seal around the brass collar under the engine bay which sits ontop of the spring now has a 1 inch gap but the old lowered springs did not. has anyone got a photo they can show me on there vr6 fron tsupension under the bonnet to see if the standard spring arrangement has the 1 inch gap around the top of the strut under the brass collar/rubber
  2. hi kevin. i am sure no leaks from sunroof/windows etc. i removed passenger side carpet and is wet, investigated further and removed the passenger dash airbag part, found water trickling down from middle and running into passenger footwell, so it must be coming from the heater matrix or hoses, as refill expansion bottle and runs inside the car passenger side only! trouble is i cant get to it to see, half stripped car so far! wanting just to see if its the heater matrix or not, but you have a big box on the left inner side right in the way. the aux belt snapped due toa siezed pulley wheel and ca
  3. hi. i have a leak inside the car looks like its coming from the heater matrix or one of the internal pipes has split or leaking! anyone know how to get to these easily without dimantling the whole internals of the car please? water is coming into the passenger footwell soaked the carpet but cant see where its coming from due to all the innards! any help appreciated asap. thankyou.

  5. hi. yes i know that the pump will not run without a belt, i just wondered where all the water went from the expansion bottle thats all? i will fit belt and see, would it gone into heater matrix or split pipe inside or behind the dash? thanks.
  6. hi. you will be a handy person to know then. i just got a vr6 with the aux belt broken due to siezed tensioner! got this job first to do, all the water has gone from expansion bottle ,any ideas on this one. i will fit the belt and tensioner and fill up with water and see what happens i think first? regards

  9. so it may be the track rod ends that need replacement then? there is hardly any movement at wobbling the front wheels at 12 and 6 but a lot more movement at 9 and 3 side to side! could it be the front hub too?thanks.
  10. hi. there seems to be more movement play from each wheel at front at 9 and 3, little movement at 12 and 6, if this helps, is this wheel bearing? anyone know please? thanks.
  11. hi m8. i spin each wheel and dont seem to make a noise! just wondered if these are prone for bushes or wear on parts ,trackrod ends etc? thanks.
  12. hi. i have a vw golf vr6 m reg after jacking up the fron tof the car so both road wheels are off the road on axle stands, if i get hold of either front wheel i get a slight play/movement if i hold the wheel at 12 and 6 and get a little wobble, is this wheel bearings or is this some other common fault ,bushes somewhere? as car going in for a mot soon and need to get this sorted before it goes in. any help appreciated asap. thanks to all. regards.
  13. hi. i have a golf vr6 m plate auto. the auxiliary drive belt snapped due to the tensioner/pulley siezed, lost water from expansion bottle, not sure where its gone? car runs but overheats due to the belt snapped and not driving the water pump etc i presume. any ideas where to check for water loss? once the auxiliary drive belt is changed will it all be ok thats the question. any ideas where to get the auxiliary rive belt and the tensioner? thankyou.
  14. hi. i am in process of buying a golf vr6 m reg auto, was told the auxiliary drive belt broke, car overheated and may have damaged heater matrix, car was picked up by the a.a, towed home by previous owner, he is saying it only needs a new tensioner and aux drive belt! is this the case, is it worth buying the car or shall i be advised to stay clear of this one? want some advise as i really like the car and wanted to do the job myself. any advise appreciated asap. thankyou.

  17. hi all. can anyone advise on the easiest way to change the rear axle bushes on a p reg golf vr6 please, dont really want to drop the rear axle as i have axle stands and a driveway, i wish to do one side at a time, can anyone recomend a easy way to do this and to get the bushes out. thankyou. also, i have a clonk from the rear passenger side going over bumps, after speaking with a vw dealer today they advise i have a worn bumpstop in my shock, i checked and he was right, it looks like the bumpstop has come away from the top of the shock, is this a easy job or a lenghy job too? thanks stu
  18. i have a loud clonk as i go over a bump it sounds like its coming from the rear passenger side, i think it sounds or maybe a faulty or poor rear shock absorber? can anyone advise at all? also do the vr6 models have trouble with driveshaft issues, as i had a clonking from the left side, i have had all the bushes done, track rods, wishbones etc replaced, i did have a split driveshaft boot on the inner gearbox end drivers side before i had all the bushes etc done, not sure if i have a driveshaft issue or not still as it has not split again. can anyone advise if the driveshafts are prone to failu
  19. hi. i had a reply from user name homer today, can you please email me over a exploded diagram of the similar one you replied to me today please, i need the diagram under the gearbox photo you sent me and if possible one of the gearstick under the rubber gator to see the linkages to see if anything is missing due to my 1st and reverse gear issue! my car drives but it seems my reverse gear and 1st gear are in the same or very near place! hope the nut adjustment will do it. thankyou stu76
  20. hi. thanks for the diagram on the gearbox for my cables. i will have a look and see if the cable on the gearbox has a adjustment nut as you show. hopefully it will if it does not then what?? have you got a exploded diagram of the gearbox cables just below your photo, or a exploded diagram of the gearstick linkage below the rubber gator? if so can you email me it across to me anyone? thanks alot.

  22. drivers side electric window goes up then goes back down on its own. press the button a few times to fully close it is the only way! anyone know what would this be, it just dont seem to stop when it gets to the top! fully closes to top if you do it with remote fob if the window was open upon central locking. passenger side window, can hear a slight noise but window not moving up or down, anyon know, think its window mechanism or motor etc?
  23. hi all. on my 1996 vr6, on drivers side window, when you push the button once it goes up then goes back down on its own, you have to close the window in stages by pressing the button a few times to fully close it, if you press the remote fob with window open and lock the car it closes on its own as it should and stops at the top? anyone any ideas? passenger side. i can hear a slight noise but when pressing the up/down button nothing happens with the window? could it be a switch or mechanical problem? motor etc? thankyou
  24. hi.when you say a small bit of plastic had broken and not holding the cables what do you mean exactly, plastic bit where? on gearbox end or under the gator under gearlever? one cable has a clip on stud thing and other cables goes into a rod thing! both cables seem attached at gearbox end ,must be somewhere else? any more info please?
