OK, cheers everyone. I'll be ordering at the end of the month, can't wait.

So I assume lowering kits are easier to set up? Will I still need to adjust camber etc?
-
I've tried to jack off the engine mount before but my jack doesn't lift high enough to change a wheel. Could be onto a winner with the wood though. Thanks. While I'm here, I've been looking at coil over kits and lowering kits. I know coil overs are meant to be better but I don't know why? What should I go for?
-
I'll look into them but I really need advice about jacking after I've lowered it. How low is your car and where would you jack from?
-
Well it passed it's MOT and to be honest apart from the seem everything seems solid. I've shown a couple of people who know a thing or two and they said not to worry about it. I'm in limbo with this lowering kit though.

Hello all, have a problem. I'm looking to lower my MK3 but I'm worried about being able to jack my car up in the future. The seem/ridge where you place the factory jack has bent and is off limits on both sides of the car. A couple of days ago I had a puncture and used my space saver which was also flat. When I let the car down I struggles to pull the jack out. Should I forget about lowering it?

Actually I'm in Lydd on sea now so I went to Ashford. I used to go to The Old Kent road VW. I'm on first name terms with them as I owned the Restaurant next door, they even lent me tools, top blokes!! Looks like I robbed them though, don't see how it's happened but never mind.

Mine was £20 from VW and I fitted it myself. Either they've given you the wrong price or I've stolen from them. I'd get that double checked if I was you. Also, that £60-£80 sounds like I very rough estimate from someone that didn't check the system and doesn't really know what pipe your talking about. When I went to get mine it was in stock as it was a common fault and the parts counter knew exactly what I wanted.

Hello all, been a while. Got a problem with driver's side front suspension on my TDi. I noticed the car not handling properly mainly on left bends. I've had a good look under the bonnet and the top mount on the drivers side is too low and can be moved and twisted by hand. I've spoken to a few people and they say the rubber has probably gone. I've had a look around for prices but I don't know which one I need. http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Volkswagen_Golf_1.9_1997/p/Car-Parts/Suspension-and-Steering/Suspension/Suspension-Mountings Which bit do I need?? Also, do I need a spring

Thanks for that and thanks to toadboy for his PM's. Just been to my local garage again and he said he can't source the tools. Although toadboy has sent me the ebay number for the tool my mechanic's computer spits out six tool numbers. He said he will print them out when he gets the chance and I'll pick them up in the morning.

Thanks, I've PM'd him, hope he comes online today.

Hey all, my car needs it's head gasket changing, just been to my local garage and they have told me they may not be able to do it because of special tools. Anyone here done the job themselves?? May do it myself if anyone knows how difficult a job it is.

Water leak again someone please help!

Just done mine. Took me half an hour. All you need is an allen key for two bolts and mould grips to get the clip off the small hose. It just pulls off then. Pushing the new one in the water pump end can be a sod, I had trouble at first but I noticed slight rusting around the lip and sprayed it with wd40. Went straight in. -
I've stole her for another forum a few weeks ago lol

Wow, I've never been impressed by a knob before. Your friend has one of my dream jobs I think. How did he get into that?
