    Looks like I can make it now, well chuffed Will be dragging my 14 year old son along but he seems well up for it.     Dales right I think, check where DVLA stand on 'private' and then get your proof of fact your car is now on private land, if indeed it is. I had a bad experience quite a few years back, had a Mini had bought and planned to restore out front of house and wasn't taxed (naughty me so fair cop guv!) Never drove it or anything but in a close so thought doing no harm. Anyway, this was in days before SORN and they sent me a bill for not just when I had owned the car ( a few months) but for all the years it wasn't taxed as off road with previous owner. Bill was about £1500 so forced me to scrap the c

    Ah, good point!! Seen some of the other types about (centre consoles but they dont have much of an arm rest. Maybe I'll just leave it as Wolfsburg intended!

    Check out www.vwgolfmk1.org.uk - mk1 golf oc Do a search for user 'paul_c' has he's putting a V6 into his MK1. I think from memory it's a 24 valver but take a look. Do a general search as I think a few have attempted Keep us posted on your progress

    Had this on a MK1 once - no mayonnaise under the oil cap, no visible water leaks but losing water real quick. As already suggested, was the coolant cap on the expansion tank. Bought a new one and problem solved so a cheap fix and worth a try

    I reckon you should be ok too. When I got points some years back, I was brickin it as home address on license was about 5 years out of date! They didn't care and did nothing about it
